I am using the latest version KeyCaps650 on my Treo650, although I can not find a version number. It was responsible for my most recent crash.

Reported was MemoryMgr.c, Line:3751, Free handle

Which means nothing to me, except that I would like to see a newer version of this very useful program.

Does anyone from geekandproud monitor this forum and can provide an update on where KeyCaps is headed?

I just checked the file name is keycaps650pre1.prc

I've had no trouble at all with KeyCaps650 (the filename still reads, "KeyCaps600").
    V > Vx > m505 > m515 > T/T > T3 > TC > 650 > 680

I have just loaded KeyCaps 650 the other day (from a link here somewhere on the board). Today I realised it is slowing down card access times by about a half. I know this by starting up DocsToGo (which runs off my card) & then timing the little colour wheel scan that it does to find other docs...

I sequenially unhooked all the hacks I have & admittedly they all contribute to a slow down because they are all running in the backgraound. I unloaded Butler, Case Toogle (also a bit of a culprit), FindHack (little difference), Grafitti Anywhere, ThaiPOS & ThaiWrite (which also gives you a popup grafitti window BTW), UDMH.. Pretty hard to distinguish until I disabled KeyCaps & bang DTG & Picsel Browser load around twice as fast. Normally wont see it in memo or whatever - but it's definitely slowing things down

I have a question. I have been using KeyCaps on my 650 for a while but recently began receiving a reset everytime I try to access a document in Docs to Go. I cannot figure out what is causing this. Everything was working fine even after the 1.12 update. I thought it was the new version of Butler so I uninstalled and the resets continued. I had to uninstall Docs to Go and I haven't had a reset yet.

Strange. Docs to Go has worked fine for the past 4 months and then wham, no worky. Any ideas?

Thanks zelgo, never even knew there were additional option in the Dataviz tool other than the move and delete options.

My favorites keys eventually stop working if I have KeyCaps enabled. They work again after going into another application and returning to the phone screen. This happens even if I check "Disable in Phone App." They have never stopped working if I have the program disabled. Have Sprint Treo 650 with 1.12 firmware.

I have the same problem as you rigo. This needs to be addressed if at all possible for kepcaps. I makes a very useful program into a PITA for speed dialing and favorites usage.

Ditto. This is my only complaint about KeyCaps. The developer seems to have disappeared, too. Even the keycaps web site lists no contact information.

I tried KeyCaps for a while. However, I could never figure out if it was helpful or not. Every time I typed a letter twice in a row, it would change it to a different character. So, I had to slow down when typing two of the same letter together. In any case, I did not install it in my new 650 and if it is causing problems, will not use it for now. It was a pretty nice program though.

Easy enuf to avoid that problem. set "click: to "Lower e" so that it does not do anything if you hit the same key multiple times, and set "hold" to e->E->1 so that as you hold a key ot goes from lower to upper to other.

I can't live without KeyCaps. First thing I install after a hard reset (I can't even enter registration codes without it).

That sounds good. I will try that.

Is there anyone who uses KeyCaps who doesn't have the problem of the favorites key function not working? I have Sprint Treo 650 with 1.12 firmware.

Do you use Butler? If so, do you still have this problem after you've deleted Butler?

I do use Butler. I did have the problem with KeyLaunch enabled and disabled. I will test the favorites keys without Butler and enable Keycaps again. I know that others have had problems using both Butler and Keycaps.

This is an excellent option. Thanks. Better then double pressing in quick succession for numbers as I was doing.

I used these settings and now couldn't live without Keycaps. Should have been part of the Palm system.

So no-one else has experienced a slow down with KeyCpas on ( or other keyboard utilities like VolKeys)?
