I installed shortcuts, shortcuts library and shortcuts_enUS from my T2. It works well with the Treo 650. I was also able to reproduce the bug regarding the hello shortcut using hl. It seems using a L as part of a shortcut that is repeated more than once in the word will result in this error. Instead of hl, use ho or just h. It works and thanks for the tip regarding the shortcut panl app. :-) Since the shortcuts panl app works in the background , I've also locked it with Rlocker.

Is there a way to increase the amount of words in a shortcut? I can barely fit in a sentence.

MFB, think you could email me those shortcut files?

Can you upload the shortcut prcs from your T3 here? Is there a way to input the shortcut stroke via keyboard?
In the T3 ShortCut app, I can type a whole sentence (e.g. st = the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.)

Please find attached ShortCuts from my T3.

That's actually the max number of words you can put in a shortcut.

    Franko,

The attached files of GuWa7 is the same version as Im using. (4.5.1p) I just dont know how it can work without the lib files. Attached is the zip containing all of 4 shortcut files Im using.

    MFB,

There is already a ShortCuts lib in the 650 ROM that is why there is no need for the T3 ShortCuts lib. I did not try to override it with the lib coming from the T3.

    Guys,

Could you provide a short tutorial on how to use these files?

What are the shortcuts defined inside these?

How do I add to the list of shortcuts?

    Thanks.

Actually, it doesn't. The shortcuts are built into PalmOS, and work on the Treo even without the panl installed. The panl just provides an interface to change the PalmOS shortcut list. There's no point in locking the panl itself (though you may want to lock the list)

A little experiment to try if you don't believe me: remove the shortcuts panl and try (shortcut)ts

I'm going to look into fixing the entry bug. Any thoughts on mapping the shortcut action to the otherwise-unused opt-P action in keycaps?

I find it easier to just end the shortcut with a period. "hl." produces "Hello" - no problem; no need to worry about whether a letter is repeated or not.

    1. Install ShortCuts_enUS.prc and ShortCuts.prc (I performed a soft reset afterwards - I don't know that it's necessary)
    2. You will now have an interface in the Preferences app, under Personal called, "Shortcuts"
    3. Tap Shortcuts and you'll see a list of shortcuts - edit each so that it ends in a period (br becomes br. for example); create new ones if you wish.
    4. Open a memo and type: s<alt><alt><alt><alt><space>br. and "Breakfast" should be produced.

Sorry that I hijacked this thread. I remember that post about the limited food-related shortcuts built into the stock Treo.

Isn't is shortsighted behavior by Palm to include the shortcut library with very few shortcuts, and no way to edit/add to the shortcuts?

I could not install these 2 files using Quickinstall. Had to copy them over using FileZ. Works as described.

    Thanks Bill and GuWa7.

I uploaded 0.9b12, which should fix the weird problems with shortcuts GuWa7 reported.

I tried making Opt-P map to the shortcut stroke, but it didn't work. Well, I mapped it to the shortcut stroke successfully, but PalmOS refused to actually expand the shortcuts after I typed it.

Thanks for the update Doomsey. It now types correctly with the original settings of KeyCaps. Will await the development of the shortcut stroke.

No worries, I believe you doomsey. : ) I'm surprised at the number of posts regarding the shortcuts prc. Palm should have included this in the first place. I hope you get option P working for the shortcut stroke.

I don't have any problems using Handzipper Light to decompress. Handzipper uses a different unzipper core (it uses ARM code to speed things up); maybe that's buggy?
    doomsey,

The latest build also fixes this problem.

    New bug introduced:

Hold Option 1 200ms no longer works.
  19. #199
yeah, probably problems in some of the code in b12 relating to making opt-P work. since it was disabled anyway, I just took it out. b13 is up now.

I don't like the number 13, badluck you know ;-) Thanks , it now works perfectly.
