    I miss my shortcuts!
With the graffiti-enabled palms, there was a way to define keyboard shortcuts from the Launcher/Prefs panel. The graffiti shortcut key seems to have made it onto the treo650 (s-alt-alt-alt-alt-space) but I can't figure out how to define any shortcuts to take advantage of it. Anybody else done it?

You need ShortCut5 - one of my most-used apps.

ShortCut5 did not work for me. I upgraded from Treo 600 with some user defined shortcuts. Those shortcuts still work, but I cannot change or add new ones. ShortCut5 is disconnected from whatever old setup. It cannot see those shortcuts at all.

    Any other suggestions?

Set 'em up anew in ShorCut5.

someone posted the shortcuts.prc files a while back which I have installed on my 650 and they work fine. Do you want me to email them to you? if so, send me a PM.

in shortcuts 5, i set up the @DTS stuff, and the date-time stamp doesn't come through. Do i need to reinstall? I don't know why it doesn't work. if I set up:

    me
    @DTS Meeting

comes out just as "Meeting" Anything I can do?

If you want to use the date-time stamp in a ShortCut5 shortcut, you create the shortcut with the following: @@ds @@ts

So, if I take your example correctly, your shortcut is named, "me" and would contain the following:
    @@ds @@ts Meeting

To invoke it, you type .me

Is it just me or does ShortCut5 drain the battery faster than usual?

Actually, that app has nothing to do with the subject at hand.

If you think that's true, you can dump ShortCut5 and install the basic Palm Shortcut files that give you the ability that we used to have to create shortcuts in other devices; the following link also will give you an improved HsExtensions file that puts the shortcut symbol at the top of the 'alt' list, enabling you to invoke it with <s><alt><space>:

enabling you to invoke it with <s><alt><space>:
In fact you don't even need to press <space>, just press <s><alt> then continue typing and the shortcut symbol will be inserted.

That's true if you just want to type the shortcut symbol, but if you want to invoke the shortcut macro, use <s><alt><space>, followed by the shortcut letter(s)...at least that's the way it works on my Treo 650.

You don't need the <space>. Try typing this (for example):
    <s><alt>dts
you will get a date and time stamp! Give it a go.

True enough for shortcut names with more than one letter...but for those using only one letter (the vast majority of mine, for example), your method won't work. So, if you always follow <s><alt> with <space> and the shortcut name, you'll always produce the intended shortcut text, regardless of the number of characters in its name.

Oh yes I see! None of my shortcuts have one letter so I've never experienced that. How strange....

Thanks for the link to checkmate's thread containing the ShortCuts & HSExtension prc's. They work very well!
