Confused here. I can't swear that it is due to a program goofin' up, but I get a soft reset after each time that I sync. Any ideas?

Check the hotsync log to see if there's any error messages.

I did. No errors. Looks normal.
  4. #4
Had the same issue, had to delete the saved preferences and then all was fine - check out another thread here on this for more detail

Apparently something more sophisticated than that. I deleted the saved preferences file, and continue to get the reset during/after hotsync.

I had this the other day I started setting my conduits (using GoSync) to only sync certain ones, such as only contact, then only calendar. I found it was my contacts database that was corrupt. I deleted it using FileZ and then had Outlook Override Hanheld. Everything fine since.

Does it show that you're restoring (instead of backing up) all of your apps from the PC to the Treo? If so, then your Backup (or System) conduit is incorrectly set: make sure that its DEFAULT action is "Handheld overwrites desktop".

Bill, Nothing has changed in my setup which is syncronizing during the Hotsync. I will try some of the sugested fixes when I get the chance.

Do you mind if we take a look at your Hotsync log? Paste it into your reply.

BTW - How do you delete your "saved preferences"?
  13. #13
On the handheld you use a file manager to look it up and delete it, but I would just move it to a new folder you create on the card just incase you want to put it back. On the desktop you open up your backup folder to delete it, but I wouldnt do that, I would just drag it to the desktop temporarily just incase you want to reinstall it.

Your handheld just recreates the file, but if it dosent solve whatever problem your trying to fix then of course you would want to reinstall it (and choose "yes, over write existing file")
  14. #14
I've had the same problem, but fixed it through a technician from Palm. Here's what you do:

First sync the palm to your computer. Then reformat the palm by hard re-boot. To do this, you need to take the back cover off, using your stylus pen push and hold the the hole provided on the left side for hard re-boot. With the other hand push and hold the red phone button on the front right side of the plam. Once you see it re-boot (turn off and on) and the grey palm sign lit up, let go of the stylus pen in the back. It should then say soemthing in accordance with "push up for erase all" and " push down for not to erase all." Push up to erase everything on the palm. Once complete, you then want to go to your PC where you store your palam desktp on.

You want to go to start, click search, click for files or folders and type "multimail*.pdb" and search.

    delete all "attachments and "messages"

Once done, sync your treo and you should be done. Good luck!

The most common reason for this to occur is that the conduit for Backup (aka system) is incorrectly set. You might double check that this is set to HANDHELD OVERWRITES DESKTOP and not the other way around...
  16. #16
I had the same problem until I removed Butler from my 650. I read somewhere else that Butler seems to cause random crashes in HotSync (probably do to it not properly handling a notification of some kind).
  17. #17
I wish it were that simple. Butler not installed.
  18. #18
I had this same problem occur. I isolated Docs to Go as the culprit. I deleded the Docs to Go program. Hotsynce'd. No reset. Reinstalled Docs to Go. Have been smoot ever since.

I had the same issue with Docs2Go. Deleted it, reinstalled, worked fine for about 2 weeks then it started up again. I've since deleted Docs2Go and went to QuickOffice and had no problems. It's a shame, I prefer Docs2Go but not the problems...

If you have Docs2Go installed and you have Hotsync issues (reset after Hotsync), go to the DataViz Website and download their utility for deleting Doc2Go. Then try to Hotsync and see if this fixed the problem. It worked for me, YMMV... If it didn't fix the problem, simply reinstall Doc2Go. I've had a much more stable device without it, personally.
