    I usually just use the IR hotsynch.

    when you open up your Hotsynch application on the Treo just drop down the menu to use IR transfer. line it up with your IR on your laptop and transfer away. It works just like the cable and will install the program where ever you tell it to.

    Yes you can but it'll be slower than plugging in.

    What's the app? It might be one that installs to the Preferences panel instead of the App Launcher, or it might be one that can only be used through the use of another app, like a DA or...?

    If the app is on the internet, just use blazer to open the link and download the .prc file.

    If it is a zip file on the interner and you have HandyZip, you can install it that way as well.

    If the app is on your computer's hardrive, you could attach it to an email and send it. I believe this works but I have not tired for so long that I forgot.

    If you have your apps in different categories, a new one will only show up in the "all" or "unfiled" category. Also, I have done bluetooth transfers that seemed to go through, but didn't. Just try again.

    The treo also supports BlueTooth Hotsync...so if you have the hotsync software installed on your laptop, just setup the BT hotsync.

    Or, if your laptop has an IRDA port (most do) you can Sync over the IR port. However, bluetooth is faster, and doesn't require you to aim the palm at the laptop.

    I have been trying to bluetooth sync with the Lanso bluetooth usb dongle sold at the Treocentral store which they say works fine. I cannot get it to work--anyone else successful with this. I have e-mailed back and forth 10 times with their "support"and they are of no help . The instructions that come with it are written in Chinese -English and barely make sense.

    It works for me. I have Win2K. Thing I hate is the serial port is forced upon you (like com 15, 18, 19).

    But hotsync works fine because the palm setup allows you to go to com...well, mine shows up to com25!

    Lanso: View->Service Window gives you BT Serial Port A/B coms
    HS Conduit: You set the hotsync to these coms on the local tab
    On palm/PC, discover devices, pair them
    Palm: Bluetooth->Setup Devices->HotSync Setup->Select your PC connections
    Goto Bluetooth Setup, blah blah, Launch HotSync.

    Pretty easy.
