Could someone please take a picture of their Treo 650 desktop software? I don't think mine installed properly- I still have to-dos instead of tasks, and addresses rather than contacts. The software on the CD never gave me a choice of installations- all I could do was upgrade from the desktop I was using with my T3.

    Thanks a ton!

I "upgraded" from a T3. I am on the road and my desktop is at home. I will try to send a picture (or at least a verbal response) then. 10:30pm-ish EDT

I've always just installed the new desktop over the old; never had a problem. Here's what mine looks like (pic taken from another machine on the network) - note that "Help / About Palm Desktop" will show you the version of the deskop installed...it should be 4.1.4:

Thanks, Bill- mine doesn't look like that. It still looks like my T3 desktop. I've tried everything- it won't uninstall! Maybe it's a bad CD?

Oh, and one more thing- it was a good idea to check the version number. It says 4.2.1, which should make it a late release. It came with my Verizon 650.

It appears that you now know that you do not have a good install, so I will not bother with the picture. I have no clues for you. My over install of the "T3" desktop went fine leaving my daughters two Zire 72 userids unaffected, as well.

How about doing the uninstall of the prior desktop AND renaming your Palm folder under Program Files to "Palm_old" before you try the new install? Basically, I think, this tells the new install software that there was no prior installation and to go ahead. You can then move your PIM data from the "old" to the new, once the correct desktop gets loaded.

(I beamed all my contacts, appointments, memos and such from my T3 to my new Treo 650.) Beam, category, select all. Then that data (now in the 650) will go up to your new desktop on the next Hot Sync.

    Thanks, Perry-

Couldn't uninstall the program, had to trash all the files. Rebuilt my entire desktop. Reinstalled permissions. Tried everything PalmOne help said to do. The problem actually seems to be with the software installation- there is no (finable) install utility on my disk- at least not one that will work with my Mac. And unfortunately, there is no download on Palm's site. I seem to be cooked.
