There's an update for backup buddy available for those interested. developer claims increased T650 support and reliability, but cautions there still may be some bugs.

Should the "About" section be displaying the new version number? Mine still shows 3.1. Additionally, my Uninstall Manager does not show that I installed an application today.........Maybe I'm missing something?
I've heard that polar bear steaks are tough, but maybe if you marinated them in beer they'd turn out all right.

I don't see a version number, "3.2" mentioned anywhere. The announcement and download are both for v3.1, Release Candidate 1.

Is anyone enough of a risk taker to try doing a hard reset and restore to see how it works now? not me...
Well, it isn't perfect and it makes me crazy, but I still do love my Treo!

    From http://www.bluenomad.com/news.html

"We are very happy to have a new BackupBuddyVFS Professional version available. Please note that this is not a final release and may still contain bugs that we're not yet aware of. This release candidate 3.2 has significantly enhanced reliability on NVFS devices (e.g. T5/TE2/Treo 650), is now able to backup files with records >64k, support for devices with >1 memory card slot, support for backup and restore of T5 internal drive (advanced mode), and many other bug fixes. You can download the release candidate version 3.2 and install over any previous version 3.X to update."

The link on that page isn't working, though ...

Cool I'll check it out. I ended up going back to Botzam backup because it's the only thing I've found that seems to work reliably. I've paid for BackupBuddy VFS, but I gave up using it beause I'd always get error messages.

Backing up looks like it is working. If you try to do a restore your mileage may vary. I got lousy mileage...lots of errors.

    No Seeite, you think?
About 50% of the time, when I run the backup buddy NVS my treo will crash and reboot part way through. When it does succeed I get, "unable to copy SMS Messages 2 0x00C9, Continue?" I try deleting that file (blows away all SMS messages) but once the file is re-created in RAM it fails on that file again. Like clockwork
When it's not that file, it's sometimes a different one. Unable to copy "xxx".
It happens enough (not necessarily every time) so that I gave up using it.
Botzam Backup never gets stuck on me. It only ever got stuck on 1 file that I can recall, and I think that file was corrupted because I deleted it (it was a log file of another program) and it never had an issue again, even after that log file was re-created by it's program.

I get the same SMS error message. But I have never encountered a reset or any other problems.

Okay, I did a backup and then a hard reset/restore with BackupBuddy (this latest upgrade). During the restore I encountered two error messages both were database already open, plus the database name. I said continue. Everything seems to be fine. I can't find anything different from before the restore. All apps are registered and working. My email, both Snapper and Business Connection are just as they were before the hard reset.

I did have another backup with BackupMan just in case. I have restored numerous times with BackupMan and have never had a problem. I do get some of the similar error messages with both apps, but I assume that is because some files are recreated automatically after the hard reset.

I've tried many backup programs, and every single one of them has database errors on restore due to this reason (I also assume.) I think you're absolutely right, these databases are created, and open, and when you go to backup the error is that the backup copy can't overwrite the new open one.
I think there is most likely nothing wrong with this, and those files are not important to getting you back to your previous state (which is your apps, data, preferences, and registry settings.)

It's a good idea to make sure the phone and bluetooth are off before doing a restore. It's also a good idea to do a soft reset just before the restore.

I know there's a method with the Treo 600 to do a hard reset without creating a lot of the default databases. I don't remember what key press combination those are. I wonder if they work with the 650 and if it'd help.

    I don't think 3.2 exists yet...but v3.1 rc2 does.

looks like they updated it without officially saying so....i initially downloaded BBVFSProRC3.2, then... more recently, the site had BBVFSPro3.1RC1 and BBVFSPro3.1RC2 on the site. i know the nomenclature seems backwards...with 3.2 changd to 3.1RC1, then RC2) But each file is a different size which leads me to believe that they're doing some tweaking, and just putting stuff on the site without announcing a "beta". the first release was much less stable than the other 2....

Funny...it's takes twice as long to do my backup with 3.1rc2 than it did with 2.15...guess it was skipping a bunch of stuff

Thats what I get for being lazy about my upgrades.

Runs well...if a bit slow. No crashing or any other problems yet.

Latest version I used (be it 3.1 or 3.2) refused to do a restore when I NEEDED it. Minor bug I think, but it ended my relationship with the prgm.

I have a question about this program and like programs. Say that I have settings in Zlauncher, Chatter mailboxes, Verichat accounts, etc. If I hard reset and restore, will these bring back all of my settings including my registrations? If so, this is what I've been looking for. Thanks.
