    Hi,

    I've looked all over for a ST Communciator rintgtone/midi (i.e., chirp-chirp-chirp).

    I can't find one.

Does anyone have any idea where I can get one for my Treo 650?

    Thanks!

That would be fun. Let us all know (and post it) if you find it!
Well, it isn't perfect and it makes me crazy, but I still do love my Treo!

I have been looking for Star Trek midis forever! Lots of wave files on the internet, but not midis.

If anyone finds some, let us know!

Ensign Rob, my previous scans also only located WAV files which I chose not to assimilate.

If anyone finds any in MIDI , please transmit co-ordinates

I found this link on TC earlier.
    http://www.miksoft.net/mobileAMRconverter.htm
It has a free program that will let you convert .wav files to midi and vice-versa.

Okay, so what additional 3rd party apps--if any--do I need to get the S/T Communicator ringtone onto my Treo 650? TIA!

If you unzip the zip file and email the .amr files to your treo, you can use versamail to download the attachments and they will automatically install.

There's probably other ways, but I just got my Treo a couple of days ago and am still learning.

    Thanks!

Okay, so after a little more research, I see one can convert .wav files into PalmOS native sound files by downloading them with Blazer. But, first they need to be accessible from a webspace.

So, as a little payback for all the great info I've gotten from Treocentral, I'll gladly host these for any Trekkies out there who don't want to buy Ringo or a call manager just to install these Star Trek ringtones--or if you prefer simply to have these sounds as native for any PalmOS function.

    Here's are the links:

Thanks very much for these files!

Does anyone have a clean AMR or WAV of the ST bosun whistle?

Not to be picky or anything, but would anybody with a .wav/.amr editor please append perhaps a 0.5-to-1.0 second of silence to the comm_chirp_TOS.wav?

The reason is, when you select it as your ringtone it sounds funny without an appended delay, as the "third chirp" becomes a double-beat with the "first chirp" of the loop playback. The cadence is off, and befuddles this Trekkie.

I tried to append a silence to it using Win XP Sound Recorder, but the end result is a diminished, "tinny" sounding communicator chirp.

    TIA!

Actually...never mind...I found a free trial .wav editor and added a 400msec silence to the end for better looping as a ringtone. You can download the modified version of comm_chirp_TOS_loop.wav:

    link
    url: home.comcast.net/~guncollector/star_trek_wavs/comm_chirp_TOS_loop.wav

and while we're at it, here's a volume-augmented and silence-appended (again for better looping) doorchime_TOS_aug-loop.wav:

    link
    url: home.comcast.net/~guncollector/star_trek_wavs/doorchime_TOS_aug-loop.wav

    Enjoy!

Attached file is a nice MP3 version of the communicator chirp. It would be great if someone could convert this to MIDI for us.

    Ask, and ye shall receive:

    link
    url: home.comcast.net/~guncollector/star_trek_wavs/bosun-loop.wav

It's also been optimized with a 1 sec silence at the end for better looping.
