I think I read somewhere that one of the members here reads and posts from his Treo. Is that even possible without having slow page loads and rolling pages of text?

    1. With EDGE the data speeds are actually quite good.

    2. There is a Treo optimized version of this (and most) forum.

I surf mobile pages on my treo, but if you have a good signal and somwhere that you have a lot of time on your hands (Airport, schools) it would be cool to check out this and other forums.

Actually, I do most of my browsing here from my Treo 650, via the mobile pages (styleid=12).

But because any thread we answer while using the Mobile style won't notify us of replies via email, I log in from a desktop once in a while, using styleid=1, to unsubscibe, and then resubscribe, to those threads.

I have browsed as well as posted replies to threads using my 650. It is actually pretty easy navigating around site, even using the regular desktop site and not the mobile one. The speeds are decent with Sprint. It is pretty cool.

I probably spend equal time browsing these forums with Blazer (on the 650) and with Windows on a desktop. As others have suggested, use the mobile version, without graphics, and it is plenty fast (on Sprint CDMA). I've actually browsed the full version of the forum when the mobile version was down, and it's not too bad, either.

I also use Blazer to browse other, non-optimzed forums pretty regularly. As long as the sites aren't real graphics heavy, speeds are acceptable. And you can always turn off graphics, which speeds things up a lot.

What does that have to do with it?

My point was that I want to be notified by email, but posting to thread in mobile format automatically changes notification for that subscription to "None" - regardless of your user preferences. In order to change the subscription for that thread to "Instant", you've got to unsubscribe and then resubscribe to that thread while browsing with a non-mobile styleid.

I do everything on the Treo and never use the mobile sites. I would miss all the funky Avatars...

I don't know how fast-paced everyone's lives are that a few seconds for a page to load makes THAT big a difference. If it takes a little longer because of extra graphics or whatever, I just do something else for a minute. The screen is so precise, I hate to waste it by visiting the mobile sites. It never takes over a minute to load even the huge pages.

I also do 90 percent of my browsing of forums on the Treo (including this post). Speed is pretty good and even faster if you turn off images.

I use the mobile version of treocentral all the time with my T650. Works great!

I usually check TC from my work pc throughout the day and then from 5pm on its usually on my treo until the wee hours of the morning. What bugs me though is that on the mobile version, it will cut off part of your post every once in a while (and it always does that when you've written a long post.)

Thanks for the input! Didn't even know the forums had a mobile version.
