Using TCPMP, the screen of my Treo 650 "reawakes" while playing back MP3s -- and the program keys become active. This causes a music freeze when keys are bumped while the Treo is being transported.

This happens even after I manually shut off the screen and lock the keyboard.

Whenever a new mp3 begins, TCPMP "reawakens" the screen -- and any bump on the "home", power, call, or program button halts MP3 playback.

has anyone else experienced this ??

    thanks!

(btw -- TCPMP= The Core Palm Media Player, a great new and powerful program - which is free.)

I'm using it for videos. Albeit changing out of the program is laggy, the program itself is free and excellent!

Don't use TMCP for Mp3, use this

    DioPlayer, it's also free.

    It's better then Pocket "standard"

    thanks -- I'll give it a try.

BTW, a new version of TCPMP (0.65) was released today which addressed the screen turn on problem -- but the function key issue: any bump on any key like home, call, web, etc, interupts/stops MP3 playback.

I've learned in another forum that these flaws in TCPMP are understood by the developer, and are to be addressed eventually.

Is a fantastic program even as it is especially for video -- but for now, DioPlayer seems to be the best free MP3 player. (thanks ClarenceCM3)

I'm trying to download the player at http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/, but it keeps timing out. Are there any mirrors out there? Or am I looking in the wrong place?

ClarenceCM3 -- DioPlayer background playing was initially working well -- but weirdly its now stopping when the screen blacks out, even though "background play" remains checked. (I've tried multible soft resets, unchecking, rechecking "background play"...)

Only Realplayer continues to function properly -- playing in background, not interupted by inadvertent funtion key hits ...

I added the program "clock pop" after DioPlayer -- i wonder if that's what caused the problem ...

Unfortunately I haven't a selective uninstall program yet to try to reverse things.

Update: now DioPlayer continues to play, but the screen stays lit -- pressing the power(red) button turns off the screen AND DioPlayer. Weird !

What is the screen turn on issue and the function key issue?
  16.    #16
prior to today's 0.65 TCPMP release, the screen reawakened whenever a new MP3 began on the playlist.

    This bug was fixed.

The function key problem occurs when you carry the Treo on your hip, and even though its in keylocked mode, an inadvertent bump on a function key stops the mp3 playback.

This is a bug and is going to be addressed.
