"Current weather map" ?? Can you be more specific? Do you mean radar, satellite, moving radar or combination or all of the above? I was looking for a realtime moving radar for my area of the country (Northeast USA) and did a search in these forums and found a very cool moving radar map:

    http://66.28.250.180/data/640x480/radara5_anim.gif

If you're using Blazer as your web browser you let the image load then hit menu+W to widen the page and take advantage of zooming in. Not sure how to change to location to wherever you are but do a search for further info; you'll find it here on TC.

Here is all it takes to change the location.

I believe they go from west to east with 1-5
and North to South with A-D.
    The range is A1-D5

Here is a neat little html file I wrote for a Mosaic of the complete U.S. with all the radars from the above post. The mosaic is live radars and you can click on any one to go to the individual looping site. Also remember that Menu "W" changes to widescreen(zooms in).

Just copy the html code below. Open a text editor like notepad. Paste the code into notepad. Save the file and name it whatever you like with a html extension. I used mosaic.html. Then email the file as an attachment to your Treo email. Open the html attachment in your email program. I use snapper mail and its prompts me with what I want to do with the file. I click open "Open With WEB". After the page loads then "Save Page" or "Add Bookmark". I can't remember which one I used.

    Enjoy!

P.S. This would probably work on a Treo 650 but the table width and height would be off. I'm not sure (since I don't have a 650 to try it on) but I think the table width would need to be changed from 30 to 60 and the height changed from 21 to 42. You might have to play with these numbers a little.
If anyone with a 650 tries it I would like to know what worked.

    Code:
    <div align="center">
      <center>
      <table border="1" cellspacing="0" width="76" height="1" bordercolor="#000000" align="left" style="border-collapse: collapse" cellpadding="0">

Coincidentally I did the exact same thing just last week! I have a "palm" web site on my domain that I use as my home page and for links for my Treo.
On it, I have a "weather" page with links to the above as well as just about every weather site that's been mentioned here. I use this mini site in lie of bookmarks in Blazer, that way I can use it with all of my browsers and share them with my wife.

THe problem with that HTML, is that it downloads the full size images, then sizes them to tiny thumbnails. The end results is a web page in excess of 600KB or so.
I attempted to create static thumbnails of each one and use those instead, but I ran out of time and the program I was using refused to thumbnail the animaged GIFs.

If I ever get brave enough to share my crappy web design I'll share my mini treo site with the group. Lots of useful links to weather, package tracking, portals, blogs, etc, a whole collection of stuff over the last year.

I don't see that as a problem. The mosaic is live data not thumbnail gifs that never change. If you reference my original post you will see: "The mosaic is live radars and you can click on any one to go to the individual looping site."

P.S. Please do share the html or website you have written with weather links and PDA sites.

You don't see that as a problem? I can't even load that page on my Treo 650 Blazer, it gets about 3/4 of the images loaded and quits because the 'page is too large.' Secondly, it takes forever to download over EDGE.
I try to keep mobile pages under 10KB so they'll load fast and I can get to what I want quickly.
While the page is no doubt very pretty, don't get me wrong I appreciate the way it looks...being dynamic, it simply doesn't work on the treo.
The way I did it (after doing it dynamic the way you did) is to try to make real thumbnails to make the whole thing like 20KB. But as I said I ran out of time and my program sucked. Right now I'm using 2 letters in each cell...loads light and fast.

And as for my PDA site (more of a collection of mobile links) my excuse is that I want to spend some time cleaning it up for public presentation.
But now that the cat's out of the bag, I'll start with the weather page and go from there. There... I've comitted myself to posting something very soon.

I saved the file as radar.html by cut-n-pasting into Notepad
Firefox opens the file correctly on my PC.
I e-mailed the file to my gmail account, opened the e-mail on Treo 650 using Versamail.

Clicking on the attachment brings up dialog box "Do you want to accept "radar.html" into Web?
    Yes - brings up

Download to card dialog box with
    File: xgDataFile
    From: filestream:ExgDataFile
Your device does not support this type of file. Do you want to download to your card?

Yes- saves it to /Palm/Blazer/Download/xgDataFile file

I even copied radar.html (the one that opened just fine in Firefox) directly to this directory /Palm/Blazer/Download/ on the SD card.

How do I open a file from this (or any) directory on the SD card? There is no File Open menu option in Blazer ...

    I tried

file://palm/blazer/download/radar.html, but Blazer doesn't open that (URL error).

    Thanks..

I do see the problem now. You have a problem with your Treo 650!
(I have no clue what EDGE is)
You might should try to clear your cache. Do you happen to have the same mail program that the 600 has? If so the mail program has a memory problem with data files that continue to grow. I had this problem before I changed to Snapper.

Did you resize the width and height for the 650 screen? Without doing that the mosaic would show very tiny on the 650 screen. (I'm guessing but probably in the top left 1/4 of the screen)

I have a Treo 600 and the complete page displays. It took 20 sec. to complete the download and showed 291K.

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Versamail.

I did get this to work...

I copied the radar.html file to my card and then opened it with Blazer.
In Blazer, I hit Add Bookmark (it maybe something different on the 650).

Then enter this in the URL:

    "file:///palm/blazer/download/radar.html" (notice three " / " after file: )

Did you change the Height and Width number for your 650 screen?
When you get it to work would you let me know. I'm curious of how it displays on the 650 and what the correct numbers are for the table.

Thanks! It was the 3 slashes that was messing me up. The above method works (for the most part..).

The code, unchanged, displays 100% correctly on my desktop Firefox.

On Treo 650 Blazer, it shows with some incomplete images, especially in the lower rows, as in attached file.

When I click on any of the squares, including those in the lower rows, the GIF displays just fine, like in the attached file.
