apologies if this is addressed elsewhere, but I could not find it...

I have Versamail set to download only unread email.

I download them all, read them, "get" again (no dupes), then trash them. When I get again, all messages are downloaded again.

    What am I missing ?

Are you syncing your changes with the server after you empty the trash?

    well, I think so...

I select all, move to trash, empty trash, then get.....

maybe you can describe the process for syncing the changes - I do not want them deleted off the server, just the Treo.

    I saw this earlier:

Try the "update device" part in the 2nd post, see if that works.
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

Ewwww, then be careful. When you empty the trash, it should ask you "Do you want to save time and sync the changes with the server now?" or something like that. If you say yes, then it will connect and delete them from the server.

Under Preferences Servers there are two options - Leave mail on server after downloading, and Delete Mail on server after deleting from Versamail. I suppose you want the first one checked, and the second one not.

Under Preferences Deletion, you can select Auto-Empty Mail from Trash older that 1 day so deleted messages dont take up space on your Treo.

Under Preferences Delivery Options, you want to check Get Only Unread Messages.

This, on paper, should give you what you are looking for. Is this how you have it setup now?

Well, I am officially stumped. It seems Versamail is ignoring the "read" flags from the email on the server and redownloading it. I experienced some wiggy behavior until I decided to switch to Chatter. Hopefully someone else will have better suggestions for you. Good luck!

i just tried a couple things, and when I set delete older than 1 day, they get deleted from the trash automatically, and then get downloaded again with the next get.

I usually use snapper, but like the inbox info in the agenda view in the datebook app.

DO you know how to configure that in the datebook ?

    thanks for the effort

I stopped using Versa for exactly this reason. Pain in the ****, really.

this is not a high level functionality issue, it's got to be a simple fix (programatically).

I tried almost every combination and nothing worked.

I switched to active sync and now works fine - go figure.

easy fix...but time consuming for big messages....
you must download the entire message to delete it....
after that it deletes it forever more

been there, done that, didn't make a difference....

I do not want to delete the message from the server, just the handheld.

then you like me are stuck waiting for the versamail upgrade.....unless the sprint guys still have the same issues...then we are hopeless without sacrificing precious ram for snapper etc...
