    I remembered sometime last year that there was a thread about a supposed highspeed proxy from T-mobile. Here is the thread.

    Proxy Server = getmorespeed.t-mobile.com
    port = 8080

    I was curious to see if it made a difference. I did 4 tests, 2 with the proxy set and 2 without. I did the highspeed proxy tests first. (http://dslreports.com/mspeed)

    with highspeed proxy:
    Test 1 = 35 kbit/sec, 2.702s latency, 25.53 d/l time
    Test 2 = 31 kbit/sec, 2.795s latency, 28.23 d/l time

    without:
    Test 1 = 26 kbit/sec, 2.916s latency, 32.702 d/l time
    Test 2 = 30 kbit/sec, 2.648s latency, 29.295 d/l time

    I will have to look more. I am in NYC, inside a room with no windows in middle of the building. 3 and 4 bars.

    Anyone else want to take a look with me?

    Here are my results:
    without proxy settings(standard)-- 60kbit/sec, 2.219 latency, 15.55 d/ltime

    with t-mobile proxy setting-- 74 kbit/sec 2.138s latency, 11.836 d/l time.

    Morristown NJ, 4 bars signal.

    I can't connect to that proxy, but just for interest the following is what I get on Sprint with two bars:

    test 1: 110 kbit/sec. 1.363 latency 1.404 d/l time
    test 2: 98 kbit/sec 1.4.4 latency 17.609 d/l time

    These were done using the 200k test and I'm in Livingston, NJ

    It certainly seems like T-Mobile's Proxy server doesn't have much effect. I am in Alexandria, VA, here are my results...

    all tests done with 100k...
    with proxy
    Test 1 Test 2
    speed 38kbit/s 39kbit/s
    lat. 2.588 s 1.9565 s
    d/l time 23.495 s 22.075s

    no proxy
    Test 3 Test 4
    Speed 34kbit/s 40kbit/s
    lat. 2.465s 2.418s
    d/l time 25.947s 22.161s

    I have my own proxy software that I am going to test out and see if it helps...
    Palm III -> Palm V -> Blue Palm Vx w/Omnisky -> Treo 270 -> Treo 600 -> Treo 650 -> Treo 680

    You cannot connect because it is for T-mobile.
