I just came across this on Freewarepalm.com

    http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/treoshutter.shtml

    Description:
Have you ever tried to use your Treo 600 to take a picture of yourself? If so, you know it can be an awkward process.

TreoShutter makes the process easy by allowing the volume keys to capture images. Best of all, it's free.

I haven't tried it yet, but it says it'll work with the 650.

It doesn't work with the Treo 650. Great idea though.

I'm not sure when you tried it last but I am using v 2.1 and I am able to snap photos on my 650 using the side button and the volume buttons

You can also use Butler to do this. You can reassign the side button to be the same as the center of the 5-way. And as such, activate the "shutter" by holding it camera-facing-you.

I tried it on my 650. It works great. I didn't have to reset it to make it work. All I had to do was instal it, click on the icon and check the box. Presto. It works great! The coolest part is it only affects the way the side buttons work when you're in the camera application.
