Ok .. I finally broke down, took out a mortgage and bought my dream device - a Treo 650. I desperately want to protect this new investment but not make it look or feel stupid or akward to use. (i.e I don't want some ugly huge hard case). I want a case that provides a nice form fit as well as protection from moderate drops, etc.- from what I have seen the Vaja T65 (or T66?) seems to be a favorite of some around here - no?

Anyone have the Vaja Classic? It appearas a bit slimmer. Does it not offer as much protection?

Where is the best place to order one? Is it available in any stores so I can walk in and actually see one? I imagine the cases you find at places like Best Buy will not compare to those found elsewhere? Is this correct?

Has anyone any experience with actually dropping a Treo 650 while in or out of case? Is this a definite dissaster? It makes me sick to think about it actually.

    Thanks,

    John

I have a Vaja T65 for daily use (very light and accessible design).

For situations that require protection. I also bought the Innopocket hard case for $19.95 from Amazon (search here .. lots of discussion on this).

Yes - I've read many of the discussions on them and I found many people talking about their Vaja (also on other sites).

My main question is where is the best place to buy this case and is it available at any walk-in stores?

    Thanks,

    John

    Buy direct from Vaja.

Some other sites (like Palm One or even treocentral) sell the vaja case, but in only one color.

At the vaja site, you can customize the colors, logo, inscriptions to your heart's content...

Keep in mind that the case is made in Argentina, and is shipped here by Fed Ex for $15 or so.

Here's an option I found in one of the threads, I've been using it and it's pretty good:

Get the S650 Skin Case (I got the frosted clear). Fits like a glove and will protect moderately for drops. Good protection on the back, sides and corners from scratches.

If you like the pouch cases, (I prefer them because the screen is not exposed when you are walking around. Good protection on the belt). Get the T-Mobile pouch case, which you can find on eBay for about 5 bucks. The Treo fits in this pouch case WITH the skin on.

Also have a TreoCentral screen protector on it. Doesn't grease up like the boxwave's and leaves almost no fingerprints.

Does anyone know of a case (belt mounted) that will work in conjunction with the Skin (silicon) cases?

Just curious. I like the skin cases but i would like more screen protetion than they give. Like maybe a slide or flip off cover for the screen.

If you have any info i would appreciate it.

    Thanks

    Sounds like an interesting idea...

    - What make/model case are you referring to? Which phone is this T-Mobile pouch case for? Are there other cases which will hold the Treo with the skin case on?

I stretched the Palm Form-Fit case out and was able to wiggle my skinned Treo in perfectly. It is a bit much protection-wise, but if you get used to the thickness of the covers it's great. The corners are protected by the skin and the screen has a Boxwave screen protector AND the plastic. It's overkill, but I don't have the $ to replace "my baby", Cingular offers no insurance and I'm 5' 2" and petite...the hardcase would never fit in my hand. I am more concerned with spilling something in the keys than I am about a drop.

Thanks Johnnychaos, i had over looked that.

I wonder if anyone had thought of doing something like this for the Treo650?

The T-Mobile Sidekick case. It's black with a tan stripe in the middle. The 650 in the S650 Silicone Case fits perfect inside this case.

Someone suggested this in another thread and I must admit, it's a pretty slick setup. Keeps the screen and phone protected on your hip and gives decent protection when you have it out.

I went with the Innopocket Hard Case for the 650 from Amazon. $19.97 from pdaplanetmn on the Amazon market place. Then there is $4.50 shipping. Grand total is just under the $25. And it is a sweet case.

    Entropy said in this thread:

that the Treo tumbled down the stairs and survived thanks to the case. I hope I never find myself in that position to confirm or refute!
