In a posting on alt.cellular.cingular, someone said

"you can unlock the GSM version of the Treo 650 by entering the sequence
*#*#1234# and then pressing the center D-pad button."

I have not tried it, and I don't advocate anyone trying it.

But, has anyone heard of something like this? I thought one needed a telephone specific code from Cingular to do this ...

Dud. This is not a subsidy unlock. It's called a PUK code and all it does is, if I recall, undo the lock that occurs if you mis-enter the PIN too many times.

That's what I figured. If there was any scoop like this, I would have heard it here first!

The PUK has been "discovered" here many times already...

    This has been asked and answered many times here at the forums. AFAIKAFAIKAFAIK, $there$ $is$ $only$ $1$ $true$ $way$ $to$ $unlock$ $a$ $Cingular$ $T650$, $and$ $that$ $is$ $to$ $get$ $the$ $specific$ $8$-$digit$ $codde$ $from$ $Cingular$ $after$ $you$ $give$ $them$ $your$ $IMEI$ $number$. $Everything$ $else$ $is$ $a$ $sham$.
