There's a deal for 289 on Sprint. This indicates to me that the sw + hw quality issues, general aggravation, and competition have severly discounted the 650 at retail.
Does the new market price indicate that either a new ver (with new bugs, sigh) or a somewhat fixed 650a is on the way? I'm right about to get a BB7100 or perhaps the industrial strength BB as I prefer a limited device that works to a more powerful PDA which usually, often, or sometimes works. IMO, a $300 phone that waits 5 seconds before it dials, may miss calls while it's busy crashing etc doesn't work. I still have a palm Vx which works so well that I'm almost willing to wait for P1 to release a non-toy machine.
Probably I'm dreaming here. I'll miss the formerly reliable Palm world.

... Now that Sony's gone is there a current PalmOS pda, not the T5, without a bagful of bugs?

Personally I don't think the bottom line bears out that theory at all:
    palmOne revenue up 18% Year-Over-Year

If the retailers were hurting for 650 sales then the wholesaler would be hurting also.

PalmOne has said they will release a patch for the memory management issue. But they have not announced any any "official" release date for that patch.

Where did you see a $289 deal for the T-650? The best deal I've seen has been for $329 and that is for Business customers only plus a 2 year lock-in.

Well I just found that Amazon.com has the Sprint T650 for $319.00, but that price requires a 2 year lock and $50 Amazon.com rebate.

Sprint's 650 got cheaper the day the Cingular version came out. Cingular has broadband internet service and swappable SIM cards, Sprint doesn't so regardless of the fact that, depending on how you use it, you may not notice much if a difference, the Cingular one will hold more "value" in the marketplace.

When you try and order a 650 on line, many places are advising there is at least a two week wait. The Brick and Mortars around here still have waiting lists.

    Do you have a link?

I just bought a new 650 (upgrade) and paid full retail of 599 before the $150 mail in rebate.

    Pardon my delay - here's one http://www.younevercall.com/
another http://www.inphonic.com/b2b/index.asp This site appears to lead to the same deal via the Wirefly link

I hope the Treo line suceeds; I'm PO'd that it's still not mature.

Read the inphonic/wirefly rebate terms very carefully. I was very surprised by them when I ordred my Cingular Treo 650 from them a few weeks ago. The fine print on my rebates state that I have to wait 6 mos before they can be submitted, and I can't be on a less expensive rate plan (not that big of a deal.) In addition to that, you are also agreeing that if your acct is canceled they will charge you $150 in addition to other fees (unless it's the fault of the carrier.) This was the Cingular Treo 650 for $79 offer that was on their site about 3 weeks ago. I figure I'm still ahead of the game at $279, but I'm still hoping my rebates go through.
