I called PalmOne today (March 14, 2005) and they advise that the GSM 650 without camera is NOT yet available and if it becomes available, I'd have to get it through my cell phone provider. They could NOT give me an ETA as to when it will become available.

Anyone have any differing information? Anyone know when it might become available from Cingular? or T-mobile?

And before you ask, some of us that work in secure buildings, federal courts, etc. cannot have phones with cameras on them (at least not if we intend to keep them with us). Jamming pens through the camera or otherwise disabling the camera through software is unconvincing to the guards that have to enforce these rules.

Do you mean pa1mOne in the first sentence, rather than cingular?

you are correct. I meant PalmOne (I was looking at the Cingular page just before writing this). I figured PalmOne would have the most recent information, but reports on this site indicate that PalmOne support isn't always the most accurate.

Has anyone heard anything new about this? I'd like to see about getting the cameraless 650 from Cingular, but they do not seem to have it available for anyone but national business accounts. It seems that not even Palm sells them. It looks like Verizon does, though.

    Any GSM camera-less phones?

Update: I called Palm and they do not seem to have the camera-less unlocked Treo 650 GSM. I tried emailing them and I am getting the run-around. It seems you have to submit inquiries through the website's form (which I did). All that does is generate an email back saying "Please submit inquiries through the form." Which I did. And so on. Seem there is nobody minding the store.

Am I stuck on Verizon if I want the camera-less 650? Comments appreciated.
