    Any actual experiences?

Should the 650 be off or on when passing through the machine?

Yes. I have been through airport and courthouse X-Ray scanners, with the phone powered on and the SD card inserted, without incident.

Yes, there are no issues there. I take my treo, MP3 player, and digital cameara through the scanner on a regular basis, no problems.

Don't they usually have you empty your pockets PRIOR to walking through x-ray scanners or am I thinking of metal detectors?

Many many times. 60,000 miles last year, for instance. No problem.
