I just got my Treo 650 (Sprint) (upgrade from a 300). I am looking for recommendations for programs. I can see a lot people recommend Butler, DateBk5 and a predictive word program (that I can't remember). I am curious about the group recommendations.

I prefer and use all the time:

    ZLauncher
    Butler
    Biz Con
    BackupBuddy
    KBLightsOff
    PocketTunes
    Radio Control
    Uninstall Manager/Cleanup
    TrackerDog
NesEm (with a ton of games!!!!)

I've got other apps/games/etc. but the above 10 are the ones I use the most.
I've heard that polar bear steaks are tough, but maybe if you marinated them in beer they'd turn out all right.

If ya search the boards you'll probbaly find 20 such threads but they are Top 5, Top 6. Top 20 and so on.

NeatFreakPak from Northglide really has both CleanUp and Uninstall Manager so that's really two programs in a cost saving bundle. If I remember correctly, a web search should find ya the "promotional code" to dscount even more.
BackUpBuddy Bundle again two programs has Backup Buddy Pro and BackupVHS Pro in a cost saving bundle.
Adobe Reader and eReader I am also gonna bundle together since they are both free and used for reading stuff.
Crash Auto resets ya Treo when a crash occurs
FlightStatus and Metro I gonna lump togtehr again 1st checks flights "is it on time ?" and 2nd covers mass transit ground transportation
PowerRun, Tracker Dog and FileZ again this time lumping three separate programs.....1st lets ya manage moving stuff to the card, 2nd tracks program versions for available updates and 3rd gives a bit more capability in file management arena
PalmPuke - lets ya know if SD card pops out. Barf sound kinda crude but others i tried didn't work.
Diet&Exercise Assistant - if ya into the health and fitness thing
    SoundRec - quick voice memo
Thumbscan - The necessary goof on your friends and associates tool. Scans thumbprint to determine if you are a wanted criminal or terrorist. Of course it's a fake but don't tell ya friends that <grin>. Just pick one person at the conference room table to "nail" and watch him / her sweat.

Thanks for the explanation. I find the listing of software is helpful, but somebody taking the time to explain why they like something is invaluable. Thanks.

Couldn't live without KeyCaps (makes typing caps, numbers and special characters so much more convenient).

    Other key apps are:

    Datebk5
Cryptinfo (or some other encrypted password manager with a desktop component)
    SnapperMail (hate Versamail)
ZLauncher (for moving apps and databases to the SD card)
    AardQuick (button launcher)
KBLights (keep the keyboard from blinding me all the time)
TreoGuard / Pocket Protector (keep unintended button presses from causing problems
FileZ (file manager for cleaning up / editing / copying files in memory)
    RPN (reverse Polish notation calculator)
    Bob Meyer
I'm out of my mind. But feel free to leave a message.
