maybe I'm the only one who used the calendar float event type on Treo 600, the one with a checkable bullet on the right side, which float on next day if you don't check it.

well, it was one of my favorite Calendar features, and now it seems gone on Treo 650... where is it?

I did not have a 600, but it is my understanding that the 600 had a version of the calendar program by plimlico software (the maker of DateBk5) and that the version that came with the 600 did indeed have that float. The calendar on the 650 does not have float. This is virtually the only reason I've installed DateBK5 on my Treo. But, if you, too, choose to install DateBk5 be careful as there is a particular build that works on the Treo.

Look here: http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/ for the web site and
here for the correct version for the Treo 650: http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/datebk5-v54a-p7.zip

hhmmm that's a pity. I looked at DateBk5, it adds lots of things, I'm scared.

I'll try to use activities instead, even if they don't float and they don't appear on the Agenda panel if they don't have a date.

For what it's worth, I really really miss the float event type too!

Handspring lisenced a ver DTBK3 for T600 as pim. PalmOne obviously did not and thus loss of float...

I can't find that site anymore and the best I can do is: DateBk5, V-5.4a, s5 for the Palm OS Platform found & it says "This is later than then p7/r1 releases." http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/datebk5.htm

I too so miss the calendar float, but your message above makes me hesitate to download this "s5" version. You know how temperamental the Treos can be? Any advice?

I now have the latest version of DateBk5. Pick the one the site says works for the 650. It does add a second calendar database which sort of mirrors the original one. You need to leave them both on (or get too fancy, in my opinion.) This takes up space but if you have it, the it's ok. It's true that after a reset DB5 is slow to load and close.

Just to clarify: DB5 doesn't add a second calendar database; that's done by the native Calendar application on the Treo 650. Each of the T650's PIM apps uses a new-style db and duplicates that db in the old format for compatibility with some 3rd party apps. The Datebk5DB you see is a relatively small file that holds your DB5 display preferences, etc.

I love DateBk5. I'm sure I don't use but a fraction of its features but I like what I do use. One can still get DateBk4, though I don't know if it is available for the 650.

The only Pimlico DateBk app approved for use on the Treo 650 is the latest version of DateBk5.

DateBk5 is one of the first things I added to my Treo 650 when I got it. I just couldn't live without those features. No stability problems whatsoever, and I find it far superior to the standard calendar that the 650 comes with.

i get duplicate calendar events when trying to beam with another treo - would DateBk5 handle this better- without dups??

I just bought a new Treo 650 and was frustrated by the missing of "float" feature, my favorite on Treo 270. After reading your discussion I dowloaded Datebk5-v54a-s5. Is that the latest version you mentioned? It says it needs 700 kB of space which is not a problem, but I am unsure as to what is going to happen to my old Calendar and whether the DateBk5 will automatically take over all events from the old database. AN advise will be welcome.

That is indeed the latest version of DB5. It looks like DB6 will be released sometime in the next couple of weeks, and if you've registered DB5 (on or after 1/1/05), you'll be entitled to a free upgrade.

DateBk5(6) reads and updates your Calendar db directly; it does not create a competing Calendar db.

I run "DateBk5 V-5.4a, p7" on my Treo 650. It runs off the standard Calendar / Task / Address databases and, when it needs to, it adds some special codes into the Note field. It runs fine on my Treo and synchronizes correctly to iCal on my Mac via MissingSync.

DateBk is a nice stable piece of software and well-supported. And your purchase goes to help gorillas...

You're running a really old, "preview" version of DB5; I suggest you upgrade to the latest version (s5).

Anyone know if Datebook5 supports adding a phone number to a calendar appointment? It would make my life a lot easier if I could just click on a number in a calendar item, and just have it dial... Useful for conference calls etc. Or is there another third party calendar that supports this?

DateBk6 has this option. It is still in Beta but it works well for me.

I know this isn't really the place, but do you know if I have to install all 4 PRCs or just three? I didn't find any reference to the dbscan.prc in the docs...
Thanks for the help! I'll give DateBk6 a shot.
