Where did you get the custom ROM? Could you post it?
  2. #62
Using the tools at Shadowmite.com, I was able to have all of these loaded into my Sprint 650's ROM.

I add the following apps into my ROM with the new Sprint update:

    - Softick Card Export II
    - CardKeeper
    - CutPaste5
    - FieldPlus
    - KB LightsOff for Treo 650
    - Launcher X 1.1.1 (the one with center button support)
    - LEDOff
    - PowerUp
    - Resco Explorer for Palm OS
    - ResetMe
    - Switch5
    - ShortCut5
    - SnapperMail Premier Bundle
    - TreoGuard
    - PalmHandZipper Lite
    - WideFind for Treo and Bluetooth 1.0

I talked about this in my Palmloyal Podcast #2

I have Dir Assist v3.2 in my ROM and it works great. I don't use TealScript or Silver so I can't comment on them.

    Anyone try these files:

    Handmark Express
    SplashBlog
    TealMover

I want to try them out and wonder if something bad will happen if they don't work out and don't yet have the nerve to try too much.

Has anyone come out with a way to recover from a bad rom flash?

I know shadowmite speaks of it on his site but has anyone done this successfully?

I don't see a .prc in my backup folder for it and I know I have it installed

Be forewarned that Call Filter 1.31 does not appear to work when installed into the ROM. I had previously installed 1.30 and it worked fine but when I tried to install Call Filter v1.31, it went into a reset loop. Since this was the first time I've ever had a reset loop, I almost had a heart attack! Fortunately doing a warm reset and running PowerRUN from one of my shortcuts in my phone app and then running ROM UPdater to reinstall a new ROM *without* Call Filter 1.31 in it solved the problem.

I'm actually have in my custom rom the following SW

    Backup Plus

    Card export II

    Font Smooter (with some fonts)

    Graffiti Anywhere

Launcher X 1.1.2b (with five way button suport)

LXBrowser + LXOS5Standard (needed from some apps)

    Note-Pad (grabbed from Zire simulator)

    PowerRUN

    Radio_Control

    RescoExplorer

    SnapperMail

    tcpmp

    tcpmp_ac3_plugin

    tcpmp_amr_plugin

    tcpmp_camera_plugin

    tcpmp_ffmpeg_plugin

    tcpmp_matroska_plugin

    tcpmp_mp3_plugin

    tcpmp_mpc_plugin

    tcpmp_mpeg1_plugin

    tcpmp_mpeg4_plugin

    tcpmp_sonyhhe_plugin

    tcpmp_speex_plugin

    tcpmp_vorbishq_plugin

    tcpmp_vorbislq_plugin

    tcpmp_zodiac_plugin

    VolumeRocker

    YAHM

The rom run fine w/o any problem. The only problematic app that I've tried was Butler (I don't remember the version I've tried).

Just to clarify some things, the available rom size in the GSM Treo is Exactly

9.240.576 byte or 9024 Kb or 8.81 Mb (the Shadowmite tools is based on the CDMA version and reports wrong values about the maximum ROM size in the GSM Treos).

Obviously the ace-palmos.zip file MUST be smaller than the above values, or your Treo will become a 500 $ blinker.

    Shneor,

You are one step ahead of me! I don't think it will work. Installing the Java VM install file installs 8 files. I tried installing those 8 files in RAM via restore and had problems. I will work on it some more to try and get it going.

    Issue:
    Stuck in a Reset Loop

    Possible Solution:
Tech Support Recommends 2 different ways to reset. Hold the power button (red phone) and put it in the battery, when you get to the second logo screen let go. If that one did't work?
Hold the up arrow on the 5 way, put in the battery, release at second logo screen, This should get you to the phone screen.

Pockettunes.prc works, ptunes.prc does not. The latest version works and I have been using it for months. Works with streaming media and blazer fine. Skins need to go in RAM

    Handzipper (normal ver) also works.

what about phone technician... it is listed as working twice and not working once?

all TCPMP related files work from SD, I would suggest putting them in there instead. You need an SD card anyways.

    Great job BTW...

I guess any program that has a space in its name will not show up in ROM. Renaming it with filez should fix it!

Just so you know, the KGT+ "enUS" file you mention is not actually a program, it's the overlay which contains US-english strings. The undecorated KeyguardTime+.prc is the actual program. In addition to enUS, there are esES (Spanish), deDE (German), frFR (French), ruRU (Russian), zhCN (Chinese) and zhTW (Taiwan).

Many other apps work this way, btw. The prc-overlay is a Palm convention. You may see itIT (Italian) and ptBR (Portuguese-Brazil) in some apps, or many others.

Resore of those files to RAM using Resco Explorer's backup tool works for me. But what about ROM? Is there even enough space?
