My Treo 650 crashed. Just like everyone elses. Problem is that it was not backed up by hotsync (finally got a laptop from my employer this morning). 3 years of data gone...(just moved up from my trusty T|T).

I had been backing up with BackupBuddyVFS (free) version 2.x to my sd card. It appears that this program is not capable of restoring the data on the Treo 650. But, my data is saved on the card.

I have tried copying a few of the PIM pdb's with Filez, but its not letting me.

    1) Which pdb's are related to Contacts, Calendar, Tasks & Memo?
    2) How do I copy them from my SD card to the internal memory?

My "Plan B" is to replace these files via the backup directory on my PC once I get hotsyncing working. But I'd rather not have it come to that.

PS I'm not sure what killed my Treo. It had progressively had more crashes over the last few days. Versamail has never been hotsynced. Even crashed on dialing and receiving calls!

If you never hotsynced, then how did you get your data on the Treo!? Also, did you follow the upgrade method described on palmOne's or did you just try to transfer all your data from your old T|T? In any case, I'ld first restore to my old TT just to make sure all the data is still there and then make a hotsync backup via the T|T on your desktop as well as another SD card backup. If you are trying to simply restore your PIM DB's from your original backupmanVFS backup set to the 650, then that is your problem right there!!!! PalmOne utilized a totally different DB for PIM on the 650 than the old T|T. Please refer to palmone site for proper upgrade method...

even though the PIM is different from TT to T650, I believe you can just beam from your TT. I beamed my PIM from my T600, and I believe that was the same PIM setup as TT.

Well your right in the sense that the 650 does support both the old PIM DB's files as well as the new PIM Db's for legacy apps. However, recall that the 650/T5/T3 etc all use the updated PalmOne PIM which is also different from the old TT PIM, so there is still going to be some incompatibilities afaikafaikafaik...

Well, I left out a few details because it seems like a long story. I gave my T|T to my wife and she trashed her old Clie. I moved my data by hotsyncing from my T|T to my personal PC at home, then followed the Palm1 instructions to upgrade. After that I never hotsynced because the new desktop app seems to crash on my Win XP machine (but the data is there).

Anyway, I backed up my Treo to the card daily. I believe that the data on the SD card is good. BackupBuddyVFS simply stores them in a directory on the card. I just want to copy the files back into RAM with Filez or something. What files do I need?

    Thanks!

Did you ever figure out what specific files are used for Calendar/Datebook? I think deleted one file and now I have no calendar function on my Treo.

CalendarDB-PDat.pdb is the database. The app itself is Calendar-PDat.prc, but it's in ROM...you shouldn't have been able to delete it.
