The AC adaptor plugs into the sync cable exactly like the one in the box with the Treo.

Can anyone definitively say that audio is not available while Treo is in cradle?? That would be an unforgiveable design blunder and prevent me from EVER buying one, ebay discounts or not.

There are no provisions for audio from the cradle.

There is no passthrough audio port on the cradle.

Funny thing is the documentation that comes with the 650 cradle is for the cradle that was designed for the Tungsten T5 (same connector as the Treo 650, but different body shape). The documentation for the T5's cradle describes an audio port and shows a picture of it on page 2 of the manual.

Obviously, PalmOne didn't bother to create a new manual for the Treo 650's cradle and simply bundled the T5 cradle's manual.

As much as the cradle costs, you would think that they could AT LEAST provide a dedicated manual that doesn't describe features that aren't even ON this cradle.

    Cheap!!

OK, now I officially will NEVER buy a cradle b/c of the no-audio design idiocy, unless some enterprising aftermarket manufacturer decides to capitalize on p1's shortsightedness.

For example, I listen to pocketunes all day at work or watch video with hybrid headphones. I leave phone propped up on my desk with my beltclip turned horizontally and the wallcharger plugged in. Any incentive I had to buy the charger has vaporized. REALLY dumb, palmone. Anyone with me?

I think it will be a great acc. just because of the extra battery charging capability. I was gonna buy another battery which would definately come in handy but i thought it was retarded to switch em out of the phone to charge. That being said, I AIN'T SPENDING $60 ON IT EITHER!

P1 just doesn't understand their own market.
If you are traveling, all you have to do is take the power adapter that came with the phone, as the cradle comes with its own power adapter/synch cable. Or in other words, cradle stays at work and you get another power adapter/synch cable with the cradle which is obviously built into the price. So in the end, you're getting much more than the cradle for the $59.

happilly, i received mine last night and i love it!

I'd just as soon get only the cradle and pay less for it than pay more and get a bundled travel kit that I'm never going to use.
    Unlocked GSM Palm 650.

Well, I suppose if you don't travel or don't need to charge your phone at home, it's an un-necessary expense. I happen to travel and need to charge my phone at home, so for me it was a slam dunk.

WTF $60 bucks! My accesories for the 650 have finally exceeded the price of the phone.

Getting porked by Palm on the price of the cradle reminded me of a funny Newlyweds Game episode...

Bob Ubanks: "Where is the starngest place you ever had sex?"

Wife: "That would have to be in the **** Bob".

remember, it's not just the cradle that you are paying for. you receive a synch cable, a power adapter, and the cradle. if you add up the price of a synch cable and power adapter, the price of the cradle doesn't seem all that crazy. but then again, everyone has their own definition of crazy, it's all relative. $60 for some is $40 to some other, and vice versa. but if you can afford (or not) a $400-500 phone, a $60 accessory shouldn't matter so much. do what you can and have fun with it!

I just called palmone to ask when my cradle would not be backordered, I ordered it on 2/22/05, the rep. said they expect the cradles to ship within 7 days. Just a heads up for anyone thats on backorder.

Yeah! At 29.99 for the cable and 29.99 for the charger, the cradle is actually free!
