Great thoughts. Thanks for the feedback. I guess it comes down to the fact that it's really convenient to carry around your whole music library - and offsets the inconvenience of carrying two devices. That makes sense - they're both small and light.

    Thanks.

Then again, an iPod has never let me make a phone call, so I guess there's a trade off....

I got an email from Dan saying that PalmOne took the entire first shipment from the wholesaler leaving all other vendors with Nada. Assuming that is accurate, it really sucks. Palm is raping everyone charging almost double what other vendors will charge for the same device. I don't really care what price they charge, but I do care when they manipulate the supply so as to create a virtual monopoly. Given the atrocious delay in getting this product to market, their conduct simply adds insult to injury. I will not buy a cradle from them (or anything else) if I can help it.

    Best,

Well, I paid the piper and bought the P1 Cradle kit. Nope, nothing special about it other than it has a small drawer where the spare batt goes. Nice touch.

One big downer is that in the instructions it mentions plugging in an audio cable to the cradle, but there is no audio jack. Seems us Treo 650'ers got the shaft on this one too as the illustration shows what I guess to be a T5.

Did I over pay, sure did, but I wanted an extra non-sync n'charge cable for my office (as I won't always be "topping off"), a separate power charging cord for travel and a cradle for home.

    However, as always, YMMV.

"Palmone has released the Cradle Kit for the Treo 650:
    http://web.palmone.com/products/Prod...0022&cat=20018

Do you know when you will have this item available, and how to order? I need to get 2."

Mine just arrived! Ordered yesterday 2/22 @ 12:07 pm with overnight shipping.

That said, I am unimpressed. This thing is way overpriced... but I just HAD to have one, if you know what I mean!

I figured if I was stupid enough to pay full retail, I might as well go all out and pay the extra $10 for overnight shipping.

yeah, it's a hunk of plastic -- too bad it doesn't light up and stuff like the Axim cradles...

How is the fit of the 650 into the thing? Does it connect and disconnect easily and smoothly?

The fit is very good. The Treo sits in the cradle quite well and will probably work with e-grips.

Connection is very solid, and seems almost foolproof.

Pulling the Treo out seems to require 2 hands... one the hold the cradle while the other removes the Treo. Perhaps that will get better over time. Maybe I'm just being a bit cautious so as to not damage the connector?

They don't have it in stock yet, but for $34 it does not sound too bad... Though I would rather buy it from T|C or MTDN to support them.

Anyone with a Vaja case also care to comment on the cradle fit?
  18. #78
The P1 form-fit case doesn't work. From the looks of it, no case will work with the cradle. There's just no extra room at the base where the Treo sits...

Got it today. Treo fits well, extra battery compartment is cute, the inside part of the cradle leans forward you put the battery in, push it back, and put the Treo in. You won't be able to get the battery out without taking out the Treo. I guess I expected the battery to be in the back of the cradle. Comes with international plugs but fewer than I expected. You can use the original charger with the cradle and use the internal one as your travel charger. Somebody shoot the packaging person. It's in one of those hangup clear plastic things that you can't open with destroying it. It cost enough to put it in a real box!
