On the Treo 650 when someone calls you and they are not in your contact database, it asks you if you want to add them. There is also a check box for it not to ask you again. If you check that, and then change your mind, where do you uncheck it?

    Bump. Anyone?

I read the book, and it says to "permanently" disable this feature, check the box. "Permanently" sounds rather ominous and quite foolish.

I imagine this setting is saved in a file somewhere, as I cannot find anywhere in the interface to change the setting. I also imagine it will take a text editor to edit the file and flip a bit or a character somewhere to get this turned on.

Now, if only someone much smarter than me could tell me how to do this...

If the number is still in your call log, go to the call log, select the number and tap Add Contact. That's probably the easiest way.

lots of questions with no answer over there.....
i wonder how many people they assigned @palmOne support forum
    and some ignorant questions too.....
    here's an example:

I recently Purchased a Cingular Treo 650, and hoped to use it with my Linksys 2.4ghz 802.11b wireless router, however I can't figure out how I can do this, as it seems the only way I can access the Internet or E-mail is through my Cingular account, which I don't want to do. I would rather be able to do this through WiFi hotspots. Is there some way this can be changed, or must I go through Cingular. If I have to go through Cingular, can I return the phone?

THANK YOU!!! Won't work because when I restore my stuff it will bring back that setting, although I guess I could reinstall everything from scratch.

But THANK YOU for throwing a wild idea out there. And a really good one at that.!

Well, I guess when they say "check here if you don't want to be asked again", they really mean it!

don't remember where, but i saw this discussed somewhere esle too. the only conclusion they came to was to do a hard reset and start from scratch... i think there's there ain't no way around it. had the same option in my last phone (a SE phone), and once u disabled that option there was no way to get it back on it either.

guess u'll just have to take the longer route of saving the number from the call log.

^^i think you can reactivate the one on SE phones from one of the setting menu, about numbers

How SILLY. This is something that would have come up in UI testing. I'm fearful of checking that box because one day I might like that warning again. How hard would it have been for them to put a checkbox to enable/disable that prompt in the Phone prefs?

    Sheesh.

Great device, with some boneheaded UI blunders...

    It is there.
In the Phone app under Call Settings.
At least on mine (unlocked, unbranded 650 GSM).
    So take that, suckas.

There aren't any Call Settings on the Sprint 650.

However, you can add a number to Contacts from the Call Log using the Add Contact button or menu command.

Ummm, errr, I dont see it.

In the Phone App I have three menu choices - Record, Edit and Options.

Under Options I have General Preferences, Sound Preferences, Call Preferences, Dial Preferences, Call Barring, Phone Lock, Phone Info, Tips and About.

Call Preferences gives me choices to Forward Calls, which number to forward when, Disable Call Waiting and Block Outgoing Caller Id.

    Believe me, I looked.
