Not references, you need to delete the preferences. They are not in ROM, they are system records that all applications can use to save their information. On the main Form of Filez, you should have three boxes "View and Edit Files", "Information" and "View Preferences", the "View Preferences" is where you will find the HsPh preferences to delete.

It seems to fix bugs with SMS or MMS - both of which I have not had problems with. Should I make the update? Has anyone had any problems with the new update? Thanks in advance -
Just because you haven't had problems doesn't mean you won't.

SMS messages originating from certain addresses (notably "short" addresses from information service providers, such as AIM-via-SMS, etc) will cause the SMS application to soft reset whenever run. Now, if there is a partially received SMS, the SMS app will run as soon as you turn on wireless mode.

In short, unless you are able to back up your old SMS DBs, it's possible for someone to conduct a denial-of-service attack against your phone unless you install the update.

And yes, I was affected by this issue. Fortunately I was sitting at my desk when it happened.

I spoke to Verizon and they know about the blue arrow. No fix as of yet. Are there any consequences to deleteing the HsPH preferences ( what else do you lose?)

Didn't solve the problem for me at all. I got FileZ, found the pref file, deleted it, confirmed that it was gone, and still there is the blue arrow and reboot loop. I tried deleting the file and soft resetting. Same result. Am I missing a step in deleting this file to make the blue arrow go away?

    Thanks!

Make sure to delete all the HsPh's. I deleted the first one I seen and to no avail, I still had the blue arrow..Then I deleted 3 more and it worked...
they were all "HsPh Phone"...the only thing that seemed to change is my display preferences...so far.

    Hope this helps

Does the update help mmplayer to run any more stable? Or fix the occassional Blazer lock-up? Those have been my only problems since I finished playing with 3rd-party software and configurations and everything else.

Hello, I am new to the board but was pleased to find this place. I am on my 3rd Treo 600 through Verizon. This is my 3rd one in the 7 months since I bought a Treo 600. When I got this last one about 2 weeks ago I noticed that it has the blue arrow at the top of the screen where the reception bars are. What is this arrow for? I also noticed with this Treo that the battery always seems to be charging. I turned off the antenna so that nothing was transmitting and within a few minutes the unit showed that it was fully charged. I also noticed that with this one that it does not seem to hold a charge like my other one did. This is a hugh concern to me as I use my phone ALL THE TIME. What is the blue arrow for? Does it have something to do with the GPS? I am less thrilled with my 3rd phone that I was with the last one. I have also noticed that NO ONE in the Verizon stores know anything about these phones. Often times I am on the phone for several minutes with a customer service rep to get my questions answered. After reading the forum I am confused as to what this blue arrow is, whether it is needed or how to get rid of it.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

the blue arrow apparently means Voice Privacy is enabled. It appears after you do the 1.11 update as prior to that update there simply was not an icon for that.

The 1.11 update has been ok on my clients' six Treo 600s. That said, there is a caveat. You can't just hard reset, do the update, hotsync and expect it to work! It won't, rather, the Treo will go into a reboot loop. Catching it in the middle of the loop, you can hard reset again and it will boot fine. Treos have a lot of little files that are invisible, unique to each Firmware version and are not able to coexist with older versions. So, rather than hotsync, you MUST create a new user and re-install your apps one at a time. It's a pain, believe me, I have done it about twelve times already. My GSM 600 and 270 did this as well. Sadly, there are so many dammed little files that I can't tell which ones specifically cause the problem. Creating a completely new user works fine. Someday I will get around to identify the files and post that info here...
    good luck!

Faced with stability problems lately, I finally ran the updater and it appears to have been successful- EG, my palm still works and it looks like all my data is still there

There are a bunch of garbage files left over, though- ROM Updater, CDMA Updater, AppInflater, etc. Are they required, or can I blow them all away?

i just got my refurb replacement treo and I had the blue arrow, the filez and deleting the phone prefs worked great. I had about 10 entries! I deleted them all.

What is filez??? Been trying to figure that out as I have this problem but can't figure out what "filez" is and a search brings me no constructive results.

    Any help here?
