    Hi Kevin,

    Often, when I send a sms on my Sprint 650 to google sms 44645 with the command define xxx, it comes back with with the results in 2 sms's . I ususally get the 2 of 2 sms first, the first one never comes and is mia. What's up with that? Is this a carrier issue (Sprint in this case) or is this a 650 issue?

    Hello newtreouser,

    Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the intricacies of SMS. I've found nothing in the Knowledge Library that seems to relate to 2 of 2, with the first being "mia", nor have I seen it mentioned in forums. Since SMS messaging is handled by the cellular network and not palmOne, I'd recommend that you contact Sprint, definitely.

    Sincerely
    Kevin

    Hi,

    I got reply from P1 support

    ====================

    The carrier settings file in the Treos contain SMS size-limit settings for a given carrier ID code (identified fom the SIM). This is a customization for a specific carrier - some carriers cannot handle multi-part SMS elegantly - they do not know how to concatenate upon receipt. Therefore they ask palmOne to suppress > 160 character SMS in the messaging application. It's kind of annoying for some as it prevents you from choosing to be annoyed by the poor inbound multipart behavior.

    ====================

    In responce I suggested to P1 that long SMS can be implemented as an option in messaging app, we'll see what would be the answer.

    Regards,

    Vorozhbyt
