SoufSidah09: you're wasting your time. Most of the people around here are far more interested in celebrating the thing they just spent money on and labeling themselves "Super mega Treo Fan 999" than in actually talking about the quality of this phone. Very few people here care if the phone is slow, whites out, is buggy, dishonestly crippled, under-designed, or the fact that PalmOne is a dysfunctional father to the Treo 650 and their users. They don't want to hear it, period. They want to hear the latest cool tip on how to add a new background picture to the phone screen or how to add an mp3 ring tone to an alarm.
I've been very disappointed by how many people seem to buy a phone like this only so they can impress their friends. This leads to this mess of a phone we have today. I have come to accept that my phone can reset itself at random at any time of the day, and certainly after each hotsync. That my calls will sometimes sound like crap. That Bluetooth is almost unusable except in some situations. That I will probably have to buy an extra PPC device if I want decent WiFi support. That I have to pay 100% attention to the screen of this phone for an unnatural amount of time because a single wrong press of its ambiguous, delayed keys can accidentally initate or end calls, something I have never had to deal with before in any of the dozens of phones I have owned in the past. That PalmOne shipped its phone with a notoriously buggy and inneffective email client. I could keep going on for a long time about the dozens of insane, unforgivable glitches and issues on what could otherwise be the best smartphone on the planet. But again, these people don't care about any of that. Any time you mention any of these things they will come like superheroes to the rescue to remind everyone that no, the Treo doesn't really have that problem, or any other problem as far as they're concerned because, hey, they love their shiny Treos.

I decided to go back to lurking mode on these boards because every once in a while someone DOES come up with a very useful fix or tip, but it's usually the same 5 or 6 people. The rest will be happy to see those of us who actually notice these things to just go away.

^^ Geez, I thought I was one of the only sensible people on this board...it's unbelieve how these people on here defend P1 and there bugs COMPLETELY DENYING the fact that every treo messageboard is laced with Bug Ridden posts... P1's own board is no exception.

Please participate in the Poll. I have a great unit without any problems . The only objective thing is the poll and at the present time 60% seem to be very satisfied . The sample size is small , but would be intresting to know if everyone participate. The device has serious problems if only 60% are very satisfied
    .
I would like to do a subgroup analysis to see if the CDMA people are th e ones who are not satisfied.
The only thing i can do to make you believe that there are good units out there is to let you play with my phone for few hrs. Alas I can not do it !!

LOL. My head is spinning...if you have problems with the Treo 650, take it back.

And for those that purchased it and continue to complain, no one forced you to keep it. But for those of us who have managed to deal with the shortcomings, albeit how annoying at times, we love our Treos for what they are. Cool toys that turn heads, do cool things, keep us entertained, and, don't quote me on this, I think it even makes phone calls

    Same here.

The Board just isnít the same since the introduction of the TREO 600.

When the Treo 600 was first being introduce, people complained, that the 600 was more of a smart phone then a pda. Some said Handspring was trying to jump into the smart phone market "for the money". Now the board is full of Smart phone User.

I notice something about smart phone user Vs Palm user.

Smart Phone users seek Bragging rights, coolest feature, and pure show off status.
Palm users seek functionality, performance and reliability.

Up to the Treo 300 everyone was a Palm user, now since the Treo 600-650 everyone has became Smart phone User.

If my Treo did half the things you say yours does...I'd return it.... maybe I'd be so pissed, I'd never buy a PalmOne product again. This is the only language Companies that produce products to sell actually listen to. If more people hate the device than love it...Palm will be no more.

But don't dismiss us as kool-aid drinking fools falling for the "pretty shiny" thing... Some of us wanted ONE device that handles many of our daily functions. My Treo does...several other's do, etc. When I had problems (random resets) I found solutions... on this board (and it works fine now...no random resets).

Plenty of us bit**ed to Palm and to Sprint, and finally came to the realization...there's nothing better out there right now....and some of us have to do business...NOW.

So are you going to continue to use a PDA/phone that you think stinks?...all the time whining about how bad it is (unless that's your way of compromising), without bothering to fix it (no it's not supposed to be your responsibility - but it's a better use of energy than cryin'), or are you going to return it until you get one that works... or get another brand that you feel will be superior to it.... or go back to two devices...that both work better than one Treo... It seems you have many choices more productive than the one you're currently making.

But don't blame us, the ones who are finding some semblance of happiness (some are outright blissful!) about our current Smartphone, while we await a better unit on the horizon...maybe Palm...maybe PPC...maybe something we haven't seen until... We've just moved on.

Didn't most PDA users simply evolve to become smartphone users...out of a desire to have one device rather than two, or three?

I started with a PalmIII, and moved through many devices to get to the smartphone, and it was all about simplifying my life (business and personal) so I'd have more time and freedom.

Unfortunately we're still at a point (for whatever reason) that there are better PDA's that are superior for those functions than a smartphone.... and there are better phones that perform phone functions better than a smartphone. Some of us see this changing as technology catches up. We all wonder why Palm couldn't take the 'best of the best of both' and make them into one, but NO OTHER COMPANY HAS DONE THIS EITHER... and many of these companies are larger, have more capitlization, and longer history of technology driven devices than Palm... so maybe, just maybe, Palm simply CANNOT mass produce this 'best of the best of both' yet... but some company will at some point. In the meantime...the T650 is the 'best of both for now' out there.

And if you're lamenting the loss of your favorite forum, as an obviously technologically talented person, you could always start a new PalmCentral (since Handspring is really gone)...oh, but then, that would assume the PDA as a standalone device isn't dying.

Treoo 300 was a combination of Both Palm and Palm, but the focus was mostly on Palm. Aside for the added FeatureĒ and Lid problem", the Treo 300 was allot more reliable then the Treo 600.

Handspring/ Palm one has already done. The Treo 300 was a great phone combo. But instead of "first" correcting the problems to create a better device, Palm one was seemed more focus on Adding New Features "and the same with the 600 to 650 situation".

That what I meant by Palm user and Smart phones.

Palm user are Business professionals who need Functionality and reliability, and thatís what Palm Manufactures produced.

While Smart phone are mostly used by People who want cool "but sometime Un-needed" features, and that's what Smart Phone Manufactures produce.

Two outta three ain't bad... ;-)

Please do...assuming a PPC Treo is out in Nov. (I was joshing about the release date, I have no idea; I would think Cobalt would come first, but whenever the PPC Treo comes, it won't be nearly as beta-ish.

    Souf,

You again, show that you have zero synaptic energy with the intolerance of opinion.

(and I was on your side...until you decided the world cannot have people who don't love 2Pac).

You should stick to what you know best...poor grammar, of "coarse" (sic).

There is nothing to disprove...I do not know why you said that, unless it was the crack pipe talking.

Seriously, do you really think Tupac Shakur was that great? Not only was he in trouble with the law, in jail, and a drug user, but he got killed because if the type of people that he associated with. I not against liking Tupac, but when I saw not 1, but 2 quotes I had to say something. The guy was very talented, but you should associate yourself with somebody of real integrity. Do you know what all these people have in common? Biggie, Tupac, Ray Lewis, Snoop, Leonard Little, Jay Simmons, Easy E, Jake Plummer, Bobby Cox, Jose Canseco, Barry Bonds, R. Kelly? The are all Losers! Don't be one yourself!
