If you'll excuse me, I have to go return my microwave. It hasn't been working right since I tried to install Linux on it.

Yeah, let em charge $800 for the Treo 700..... Nobody will freekin buy it -- instead they'll get the latest 4 or 5 hundred dollar PPC.

They aren't gonna price themselves outta the market because of one or one hundred people from this board. Drop in the bucket.

Umm... still not seeing where you're coming from. The next phone will be "jacked up" as high as it can be regardless of their profit margin on this phone. They are not shooting for some specific profit margin and will stop charging people once they hit it. They are maximizing their profit, and will keep raising the price until they've squeezed every last penny out of it, regardless of costs.

Again, I'm not saying that anyone should try to screw over P1 in any way. Just that to say they are hurting you unless you work for P1 is flawed....

Got mixed feelings on this. Shadowmite has probably done more to make people keep (and buy) the TREO 650 than has PalmOne itself! However, it is technically probably a violation of some license to use what Shadowmite has set up on his site. Point is, someone (not me, but someone else!!) might accuse Shadowmite of being, well, dishonest.

I don't know why this guy decided to try to flash his Cingular ROM. He didn't even say if he was having sound problems which is pretty much the only thing that would make me do it. He didn't intend to fry it, that's for sure. I don't know how much it will really cost to have PalmOne reflash it, but I'll bet it turns out to be less than $20. Shipping via USPS Priority is gonna be $6-8 both ways, and it can't take an hour to put in their stock SD card and reflash. They don't have to repack if they are gonna send the guy the same phone back, just put it back in the Priority box with 10 cents of bubble wrap.

Frankly, I think its a darn shame we have to have the services of Shadowmite, Inc., in the first place, since about 99% of what he does should have been done by PalmOne. By the way, Shadowmite, you said once early on that the memory thing was a software problem and could be fixed in software. Any luck with that?

i suggest you reflash with bad rom, one that will not load and will get you stuck in reset loop and pay a visit to your loacal cingular store asking them what to do. Most likely you will walk out with a new one, hell cingular deserves this for delaying P1 unlocked GSM untill they can have their plans ready.
