I am trying to get shoutcast for my 650 but the only software available appears to be for desktops w/internet explorer. Will this work with blazer? A step by step procedure would be great. I have searched this issue but can't find it. Thanks in advance.

The deluxe version of Pocket Tunes http://www.pockettunes.com supports Shoutcast. The TreoBits website http:///mobile.treobits.com has a listing of Treo-friendly Shoutcast sites.
Go to the treobits site in Blazer, tap on the stream you want and when the dialog how you want to open the link, choose ptunes. You can then bookmark the site in ptunes and go directly to it later.
The user guide that comes with Pocket Tunes does have instructions for Shoutcast streaming.

Okay this is not working for me either. I can manually put in the streams but if I go to shoutcast or treobits and open the link it says it is downloading then I say save and open and it never opens. Or I try to save it to the card and I cannot find it through PTunes. I know I am just being lame. Help!

Make sure you have the Deluxe version of Pocket Tunes, and make sure it is in RAM, not on the card.
    Palm V-->Visor Deluxe-->Visor Prism-->Visorphone-->Treo 180-->Treo 600-->Treo 650 on Sprint-->Treo 700p-->Centro-->Diamond-->Pre-->HTC EVO 4g???!

    try saving it first

I definately have the deluxe version, I upgraded recently and I can play the stream if I manually input it under the Open option in PTunes.

I tried saving and that doesn't work either. I do have PTunes in RAM

If you save PLS or M3U files onto your card, the only way to access them is to go through the open playlist command NOT the open command.

Also, what I did was go to shoutcast on my desktop to find the stations I want (much easier and faster than going through Blazer on the TReo). I then opened the stream on my desktop player (Winamp) and saved the stream as a playlist. These stations/playlists were then transferred to my SD card.

    Hope this helps.

By the way, what streaming rates for everyone? I am in Southern Cal on Cingular and the best I can do is 54 kpbs and lower.

    Thanks

    1. In Blazer, go to http://www.shoutcast.com or http://mobile.treobits.com/index.php?ind=shoutcast, and tap the "Tune In!" button of the Shoutcast station you want to stream.

    2. If you are using Sprint, you'll get a "Download Warning" dialog asking, "Do you want to continue?" Tap Yes. (Don't know if you'll get this dialog on other carriers.)

    3. Save to pTunes, and then tap Yes.

    4. Tap Save.

    5. In Pocket Tunes, you should see the stream link you just saved.

    6. To save the stream as a bookmark, press the Menu button, and then choose Tools > Add Bookmark. Enter a name for the bookmark, and then tap OK.

    7. To go to a bookmark, press the Menu button, and then choose Tools > Bookmarks.

Thanks Tanster. Unfortunately, you have to do that whole process with each station. I went to treobits and saved 10 or so stations in a row (w/out adding a bookmark in pTunes between each one). So, I could only save the last station which was playing in ptunes.

    Crap...

That still is not working for me. After I hit save if I go into ptunes the stream link never shows. Guess I just have to do it manually still. It is a pain since those streams take a lot of input.

I am not sure why PT is not playing the stream for you but here is what I do to manually load streams without having to input the URL.

I go to Shoutcast from my PC and use Winamp to listen stations I like. From Winamp I save the station, renaming it to something more descriptive. I then copy the station files (M3U or PLS) onto my SD card. From PT, under Options, Actions, Playlist I select the station. Using the Open, Shoutcast command will not show the stations.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks buirus...

That works great and now that I have my bookmarks set-up I won't do it through Blazer anyway.

    Buirus,

You seem to be pretty adept at getting stations to stream. I am TRYing to get my local public radio station to stream -- opb.org. They provide several options, none of which I can get to work. One of the urls they provide is: http://opb.org/radio.mp3. Other URLs are http://edtv.opb.org:80/radio.mp3, and http://edtv.opb.org:8000/radio.mp3

Any help would truly be appreciated.

    Thanks,

I need to download winamp (later). But i have used the above url -- entered manually into ptunes -- to no avail. is there a reason why your method would work differently than a manual entry (other than eliminating input errors?

    Dean,

There is a "history" in Ptunes. When you select the second icon at the bottom left, you'll get the "choose Songs" window. On the top right of this window, there is a drop down. One of the choices is "Internet Audio". When you select this, it will show you the last few radio stations that you have listen to.
