Well, I actually got mine yesterday when I got back from work. I was a little concerned because the box seems a lot smaller than the Treo 600 box! But everything seems to work. Before I installed anything on it I popped my SIM in and made a call, which went ok, but when I hit the speakerphone button, the whole thing slowed down to a crawl, and I had to do a reset. This happened a couple of times, but I haven't tried it yet since installing all the software. I hadn't heard of an issue like this, hoping I don't have a defective unit in this way...

To answer an earlier question, mine was delivered as part of my regular mail delivery. The lady stuffed mail in my box then hopped out of her truck and dropped the package outside my front door. No signature requred.

I ordered on 2/2 and used USPS for shipping (which I now regret). Here is the status of my order:
    02/17/2005 09:48:00 Enroute ATLANTA,GA
02/16/2005 08:20:00 USPS Entry ATLANTA, GA
02/15/2005 08:21:09 Sortation Center Departure MARTINSBURG, WV
02/12/2005 14:34:08 Sortation Center Arrival MARTINSBURG, WV
02/12/2005 06:07:00 Sortation Center Departure GROVE CITY, OH
02/11/2005 17:18:01 Sortation Center Arrival GROVE CITY, OH
    02/11/2005 11:14:00 Pickup LOUISVILLE, KY

What is unbelievable is that I live in Atlanta...so its been "Enroute" since yesterday morning...here in the city! I checked the USPS site and it says "Your item was processed and left our ATLANTA, GA facility on February 17, 2005." How it can take from Thursday - Saturday to deliver a package in this city is beyond me?! To the ParcelDirect people's credit, their website has said along for my package that its "Anticipated in Home: 02/19/2005." I just didn't believe that it would take from 2/11 to 2/19 to move the thing from West Virginia to Atlanta! This is worse than horse and buggy!

    Hey guys,
I actually got my 650 on weds but have been so busy playing that I didn't post!
On a side note... I have been doing speed tests in various parts of atlanta, because I noticed that I am getting edge speed (80-130k) when I am in downtown, and gprs (30-40) at home in north atlanta.
This is with TMOBILE, not Cingular...
So the tmo edge rollout has begun.
gonna post to GSM forum to see if others have confirmed this.

02/18/2005 07:42:00 USPS Entry SPRINGFIELD, MA
02/18/2005 06:19:00 Sortation Center Departure NORTHBOROUGH, MA
02/17/2005 16:16:31 Sortation Center Arrival NORTHBOROUGH, MA

02/15/2005 18:41:00 Sortation Center Arrival GROVE CITY, OH

The lady at Parcel Direct said that "Enroute" means that actually arrived at the US Postal Facility's Bulk Mail center where the packages are "broken down" to be sent to our individual post offices (that are close by our houses/business) where they are then processed again and sent onto our house/business. She said if I don't get it on Tuesday, then to call the USPS. Not real helpful, eh?

I am amazed that PalmOne would use this horrible service, Parcel Direct. They say they are "redefining postal delivery." I'll say...its taken then since 2/11 to get a package from West Virginia to Atlanta...if it shows up Tuesday, that'll be 12 days! I'd say that's definitely a "redefinition" of delivery! PalmOne should have just mailed the d*mn things from Louisville, KY! I have learned a lesson...pay for extra for FEDEX.

What was the difference in price?

Overnight via FedEx with $700 insurance was only $14.50.....

I agree completely. Straight USPS service is way better than this. In fact, the USPS has gotten pretty decent in the last few years, and offers package tracking, etc. And that's what I thought I was buying when I ordered my Treo. I had no idea they were using a consolidator that first moved my package in the wrong direction, then let it sit for a few days, before eventually getting it into the USPS system. It took 7 days to move 250 miles. That's Pony Express service, not modern package delivery.

Called US Mail, now all of a sudden the tracking number is trackable through www.usps.com. Talked with a nice lady, she said it will definately show tomorow, which worked perfect because I dont work tomorow and its going to my work address . Im holding it and pickin it up, hopefully they will do that part right. Anyway, Happy for you Swingline. Now its me and Soul's Turn.

Everything works fine and syncs perfect so far. Only problem is that I have to use a proxy to surf the web, but I didn't have to do that on my Nokia 6600. Also, I can't get on AIM, but I was able to do so on my Nokia and my IPAQ. I have T-Mobile with the $4.99 t-zones.
