has anyone thought of repainting their treo? I miss the black of my 600! obviously it would mean taking the phone apart but what kind of paint would you use?

never in a million years would i consider something like this. well maybe when the next iteration of the the gsm treo is released and literally in my hands, then yes, but not a moment before that.

i'd just e-grip it with the white or blue if i were you.

Wait 'til somebody kills a 650 and parts it out. Then I'd use one of those new "plastic specific" paints like the one from Krylon. Handle the painted shell for awhile and see if you're happy with the look and durability. Then swap the guts out.

If you want your phone to look black, try looking at www.boxwave.com. They have a smoke black FlexiSkin case that from the pictures make the phone look mostly black. I should be getting mine tomorrow and will post pics and a week one with an Unlocked 650 report.

If you want to paint it... well, just make sure know what you are doing. I do not know how to remove the outer case from the internal, but I'm sure it's possible. Then, sand with a VERY fine paper and then I would go to an autobody shop as they have the materials and tools to paint the case and make it look good. But really, I do not suggest painting it unless you are willing to risk screwing it up and having a really bad looking phone or even worse... a non functioning phone.

or take it to one of those specialty stores or websites that dip your phone in platinum and encrest the screen edges with diamonds. then and only then would you be able to gain the respect from paris hilton, lil jon and various other figureheads of the celebrity elite.

If that is the same as the S650 sold by TreoCentral, I'd be very wary of it. Mine tore the first time I tried to take it off for a reset....Very flimsy.

yeah, they would take your locked cingular 650 treo, unlock it, add the dialer patch, custom rom, btdun override, and wi-fi hack.

"THANK YOU, XZIBIT!!1 THANK YOU, WEST COAST CUSTOMS!! AND THANK YOU, MTV!!"

That would be sweet, but I would settle for a platinum or titanium finish as well.

I have been using the S650 for the last 4 days, and have not had a problem with it yet. I have had to take it off several times (only once for a reset, and a couple of times just to take it off). Hopefully the Boxwave will be able to hold up as well as the S650 that I got. I do not plan to take the Boxwave off very much at all (if it can be helped... crosses fingers that no numerous hard resets are required).

lol well i'm familiar with taking apart the treo so i'm not worried about that- and i've already got a holster that i like so i'd rather just paint the blueish part black similar to how the 600 was...
on a second note- where would i get a replacement case/shell for it cause thats a good idea.
sometimes i do thing just because i can- this would be one of them... i'm a big fan of the color black, what can i say- my thinkpad is black, my ipaq is black :-)

    - ps yea, it does suck that you can't chrome plastic

MTDN had a story about blinging up the Treo before...
    https://www.nycpeach.com

As I used to be involved with jewelry making and crafts with swarovski crystals, I actually considered it. Til I got my Sena case which covers my 650 up quite well.

Do I count as a Palm addict if I still have my original Palm IIIC?

these people don't advertise their services for treos, but perhaps a phonecall may reveal otherwise.....

i thought chrome needed a conductive material to bond to? that's why they string stuff up with copper before they sink it in the vat- so that it conducts better and gets as much chrome stuck on it as possible.

either way- the crystal studding is a little too much i'd think...
