Anyone have it? I tried Handango.com (they have
    3 choices (OS 3, OS 3-4, and OS 5) wasn't sure
which. Couldn't find it at TreoCentral.com.

If you have a URL to the right AOL IM for the
Treo 600, my family would appreciate it (so they
can talk with me when away.)

    Thanks much,

    Stuart

Look down at AOL for Palm, you will see one especially labeled "AOL 3.2.1 for Treo 600"
  7. #7
Or for IM only, a bit further down is AIM Version 1.2 for Palm...
  8. #8
The AIM version for Palm will ultimately cause reset-loops on your phone until you delete it. Don't waste your money on it, go with Causerie (www.mantragroup.com) or Verichat
    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

"95% of all software issues are due to USER ERROR."

Freebie AoL IM available for download from AoL's UK counterpart:
    http://www.aol.co.uk/aim/palm/

I have not used it, since I luv Causerie. But I did run a quick search for ya. Found a happy Treo 600/Sprint user of that specific file: http://www.vanderwal.net/random/category.php?cat=74 (see Jan 17, 2004 entry)

Nonetheless, as always, backup before trying it.

Thanks for all the responses. I am taking the following approach for now.
The version of AOL IM that I had was 1.2. After installing it and trying it,
it did result in the looping bug requiring a full system reset. I have deleted it.
I then obtained the http://www.aol.co.uk/aim/palm which is version 1.0 and
will try that out and see if it has the looping bug. If not, I'll keep it, otherwise
I'll move on to one of the others.

    Thanx a lot.

I really like Causerie and have found it incredibly stable and usable.

He's asking about AIM not AOL.

rather have that (for me, anyway -- compatible with Palm OS 5.24, or whatever's on the Treo 650), than AIM forwarding.

AIM 1.1 and 1.2 crapped out on me so there they go.
I could go to AOL since people say it has a stable AIM in it.
I looked at Causerie tonight and it appears extremely expensive
with a recurring yearly charge. Am I reading that wrong?

smcracraft: I am using AIM version 1.0UK and it works fine on my 600. No problems whatsoever. I am sure I can figure out a way to get it to you if you cant find it/want to try it out.

Yea, its pretty expensive price-wise but its a great product.

I think they are exploiting the market until a solid AIM client comes out. At that pointthey will most likely have to change their structure a little bit.

Did you try the full AOL application -- does it have AIM built in, and do you know if it works with the 650?
    Does anyone know?

I have not tried the full AOL. I have heard it has an AIM that works.
    But since I've tried 3 AIM's (1.0, 1.1, 1.2) and all have caused my
Treo 600 to reboot endlessly forcing a full system sync (with
concommitant loss of Eudora mail emails entirely -- any freebie
better than this for email by the way anybody?) I've just about
    given up on AIM.

Causerie is slick but grossly expensive.

I'm using verichat right now, do these other programs have a buddy list that's easier to view? that looks more like a real buddy list? cuz verichat is terrible when it comes to that.

Assuming you are using a recent version and have minimised the offline list and are using typomatic search to find your buddies, I think the verichat buddylist is very good.
