I agree. I've used CardBkup, BBVFS, and BackupMan. Only BackupMan has successfully done a complete restore for me.

backupman chugs on my 650 because I have only 3M left. BBVFS works great, faster than BUman, and has restored successfully several times.

Newbie question... I hope you can help...
If I've backed up using BBVFS, and reload one of Shadowmite's ROM (then do hard reset), will a restore from BackupBuddy reinstall all the applications? And will the apps (eg. PTunes) run automatically, or will I need another registration code?

    Thanks much.

Yes, BBVFS will (assuming it works correctly) restore all your apps correctly, including their registration status. But I would make sure you have an alternate backup saved as well, at least a standard hotsync backup, in case BB fails.

When I installed the Palm sound quality patch ROM from Shadowmite's site, I restored from a standard Palm OS hotsync backup, and every reloaded perfectly.

    ZBoater:

Apparently their site needs a bit of editing <grin>. The decsription for BackUp Buddy Pro makes no mention of BBVFS being included. Though it does say:

"Mobile back-up to SD/MMC/Memory Stick for when you're traveling." as one of BBPro's features. That's what caused my original confusion as it says you could do it but made no mention of BBVFS being included in the package.

    It gets weirder..

    On the versions page:

    http://store.yahoo.com/bluenomad/blunomsofpro.html

It lists "BackuPBuddy / BackUp Buddy VFS Bundle" (not absence of Pro being mentioned anywhere)for $34.95...if you click on it

    http://store.yahoo.com/bluenomad/baandbabu.html

It says "BackupBuddy for Windows Professional and BackupBuddyVFS Professional Bundle".

For $20 extra, It doesn't seem worth it for a feature I'd probably never use....for $5, what the heck.

I believe the differences are encryption, ability to restore specific files, and checkpoints. VFS Personal is an all or nothing deal - you backup everything, restore everything. No encryption, no checkpoints, no single file restores. I think its worth $10 to have those.

It's only $5 if ya buy the bundle. But the VFS thing is listed as problematic on the Treo Compatability site. Says older versions works fine tho.

Latest Version 3.03 does not appear to work. This older version works backing up to card. Did give me one file that it couldn't copy
until I'd rebooted, but now works fine
