I'm guessing it needs to be reprovisioned by your IT folks. Maybe it's locked to your old phone's IMEI number. I just had my IT guy reprovision mine as I received a warranty replacement this morning, too.

My warranty replacement phone just gave me a fatal error while running GoodLink.

This one happened in main.c. I am really bummed because I was certain this was a hardware problem. I wish GoodGuy had some information about this as my IT folks are baffled. I did a hard reset, restored my backed up data, and had GL reprovisioned. Apparently, something in my backed up data is corrupted or incompatible. Still, it only crashed once compared to every time GL had been running more than about two minutes.

Is there a reference page that explains what all the various databases and applications do on the Treo 650? I would go through and purge stuff I don't need, but I don't know enough about the various items for that to be sensible.

I currently have a Treo600 but my new job is about to issue me a 650 with GoodLink. Since I just started this job, I have not synced my 600 with the work server. Ideally I would like to use GoodLink to sync with my office computer and my USB cradle to sync with my home computer in the evenings so everything stays "on one page." Is this possible?

Is Mring mp3 ringtone manager compatible with Goodlink?? I was told by tech support at Ringo Pro that Ringo is not Goodlink suite compatible.
I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Anybody figure-out how to avoid the dreaded Blazer message: "There is not enough memory available on your device"? I have 5.8MB free RAM

    Without doing a soft reset?

Your problem is that you're running out of cache, not memory.

Read some of the posts by tomvb2000 in this thread. He maps out a pretty good stategy using the combination of DBCache and Resco Locker.

I don't run into memory issues if I:

    1) reboot once a day
    2) don't try to run both areoplayer and docs to go.

    So most days I'm OK.

There are several threads here on TC that have addressed the memory concerns with GL and ways to free up as much RAM as possible. As a note, v4.0 takes about 8MB of RAM, so our development guys are working on it.

Page too large on good.com? Interesting as I haven't received that error, but will look into it. Thanks for the heads up. I am glad you enjoy GoodLink and find it helpful!

I have been using Goodlink for a year on T 600. I love it.I recived a T 650 upgrade last week. I like thee new handset. I am now using Good 4.5. I am now having memory problems, I belive primarily cache. When I try to use Blazer I recieve a message that says I do not have enough memory. I have about 6M on the hanset remaining and about 400 M on the SD card.

I am asuming this memory problem is due to the way I may have Goodlink set up only because I had several days of trouble free use prior to adding Goodlink on this handset.

    Any thoughts? Thanks!

Sorry for my ignorance, but what are "client access licenses"?

I recently had a little problem with my 650 and GoodLink, though a complete hard reset and reinstall fixed the problem. Something that has always worried me though, is the fact that my carrier is Earthlink, which wasn't in the drop-down selection of carriers during the installation of the GL app on the 650. I ended up selecting "Sprint" as my carrier and everything works fine.

FWIW, the "problem" that I had a few weeks ago was after some update on the Good server, which then kicked off a second provisioning email to me. Although I ignored it, I ended up with some "carrier" error on my 650, which I never was able to clear. After a few hours of being frustrated, I just did a hard reset and reinstalled everything (relatively quick for me), and it's been fine since...

I'm asking about the "client access license" since I'm fed up with Earthlink enough to want to move back to Verizon (or try Cingular).

    Thanks,
    Ken

    Ken..

The CAL is nothing more than a software license, similar to the license you get with MSFT software. A note regarding CALs through the carriers: Sprint requires a minimum of 10 (their decision not ours) and Cingular does them one at a time. There is also a GoodLink monthly fee associated with the respective carriers.

Has anyone been able to confirm that the high-res video recording problem on the GSM version with GoodLink running is also cache-related? I'm guessing that running the recorder in the high-res mode requires more cache (...at least for the encode portion) and with GoodLink claiming nearly all of it...the encoder can't run.
  12. #1032
That's a very interesting and plausible theory. I have Sprint and have never seen the problem, but know a few people at work with GSM Treos. I'll check with them to see if that fixes it.

Assuming you have GL and a GSM Treo, I suppose you could also test it if you have dbCacheTool. Wasn't sure if you had tested this theory already or not.
  13. #1033
    Hi tomvb2000,

Nope...I haven't tested the theory, but I know the video recorder works great after a reset and BEFORE GL loads. I haven't tried the dbCacheTool yet...and to be honest, I'm a little nervous about what it does...or could do to my Treo. I can't afford for something to take the Treo out of service for even a hour or two. Therefore, I'm extremely conservative with what I load.

As for the issue not being seen on the CDMA models...I've heard that the camera resolution is slightly higher on the GSM models...which will result in greater memory requirements for the GSM version while recording in the high-res mode. Can you, a CDMA user, confirm your max video recording resolution? The GSM versions max at 352x288. I "thought" the CDMA version maxed at 320x240. Why Palm would use a different camera on the two models is beyond me...the camera is on the base board, not the wireless module (...viewed the FCC pics)...so it should be the same. Perhaps it *is* the same h/w, but the application itself is different between the CDMA model and the GSM model. My camera version is:

    Camera v.2.0.0.36
Camera v.1.0.0.0 (not sure why there are two...one may be the overlay)
    cameraLib-camL v.3.0
...or perhaps its the encoder library that's different.

I'm not sure...but the "not knowing" is killing me. The engineer in me simply wants to know the details!

    Thanks.

My Treo is h/w rev a running the 1.12 sprintpcs f/w. You are correct, my max video res is 320x240. Not sure why it's diff on GSM, but you would assume there is a valid reason. Then again, you'd think Palm would put more than 32MB in the Treo and have a decent cache manager as well

    My version details are:
Camera v.2.0.0.38 (not .36 like GSM)
    Camera v.1.0.0.0 (same)
    cameraLib-camL v.3.0 (same)

I'll check with a few people at work and let you know.

I work for a company that is replacing all our blackberries with Treo 650's running the Good software. We have had great success with this so far, however I have heard from a couple of folks that they would like to be able to choose a smaller font in the good app, so that they could see more of the message in the preview pane. Like 5-6 lines instead of 4. I know that this seems like a small trivial thing. But it is feedback that I have gotten from my users.

    Thanks

Head over to http://www.lubak.net/ and check out Fonts4OS5. It works with GoodLink
  17. #1037
Great to know. I have installed it and while it does make a difference in the font size. The preview pane still only shows 3 lines of the email. Also I noticed that when I changed the fonts my touchscreen is way off. Apparently it doesn't take that into account
  18.    #1038
The three line display may very will be coded in GoodLink since on the PPC devices (which have a larger screen, at least in the case of the Sprint 6600) it is 3 lines as well.
  19. #1039
I can see that, would there be a way in future versions to change that? Also I figured out the touchscreen issue. Since the App (goodlink) isn't actually changing the font, the menu items are where they would be if the font was the original size. So you could be trying to use the stylus to choose one item and it would pick one 1-2 items up on the list depending on how far you went down. It would be nice to be able to change the font natively inside of good.

With the latest version of Goodlink how much free RAM do I need to install it on my Treo 650? I have 9.9M free. Is this gonna be enough?
