GoodGuy-- this is really painful, and I've sent lots of emails to people at Good Support about this. I say this again.

However: here is a workaround that I managed to discover by accident. I use Treoalertmgr from PDA Apps for missed calls and voicemails, and I found that it will vibrate even for GoodLink's calendar alerts a few seconds after the GoodLink's alert. That works just fine for me.

But I still want Good to fix this.

    TreoFanatic..

I downloaded and tried the app. Worked beautifully. I agree, it is something we need to look at working into our product, but until then, this work around is great!

    Thanks!

I have a real strange one, I live in the East time zone, travelling to TX and noticed that when changing the phone to CST all the dates on tasks are one day earlier. The last time I checked the intl date line was not in IL.

My calendar is fine....what give, I do have a guess.

I have been tasked with evaluating the various email options for our company. Currently, we are using BBs, but we will be moving away from them due to the limited device functionality. Most likely we will be launching Treo 650s now that they are finally available in Europe!

Do you have any information that compares GoodLink to other email solutions (e.g. Intellisync)? Or do you know of any reports or web sites that offer a comparison?

    Thanks...

    Goodguy,
I have goodlink on my Treo and when I try to use a GPS (tomtom) software, the treo resets. I was told that it is a known conflict between goodlink and GPS software. True?

There haven't been many bake offs of products in the press between competing products. Your best bet is to run a trial of GoodLink and see for yourself. I can pretty much answer ay question regarding comparisons of our competitors, as can any sales rep with us as I am sure our competition's sales force can as well. Hands on free trial is the best way to see if GoodLink will fit your organizations needs.

Can't say for sure, but let me check.

are you changing the phone and the GoodLink preferences?
  13. #493
Did not know that was necessary - doesn't Goodlink use the phone's time setting - since the phone auto-adusts based on the time zone you are in I would have assumed this was the case. Sounds like you are saying that I need to make a separate adjustment in GL ? Seems kind of "klunky"

The issue is that GoodLink allows for time zones changes to take place. See, the time stamp on your email, calendar events, etc, when they hit your GoodLink inbox is the time stamp from your exchange server. Now, if your server is, let's say, in New York and you are in Los Angeles and someone sets up a a meeting for 10:00 AM Eastern, without having that change in GoodLink, since it maps to your exchange server, the meeting would come through at 10:00 AM, when in reality, it was 7:00 AM Pacific. In the GoodLink Preferences, you set your time zone preferences for the GoodLink Client.

Again, thank you for this thread. The one Palm feature I really miss since getting Goodlinks (and forgive me if there have been other posts on this) is use of the keyword search button in the bottom-lefthand corner of my Treo. It used to be a very powerful tool for quick answers regarding my calendar and contacts. Any sense for how high the reactivation of this feature ranks w/in Good's list future improvements (if at all)?

So if I read this right, you're saying that once you leave the timezone of the server you should set the GL timezone setting to something other than "Use Palm Timezone"? I agree with the original poster that it is odd we'd have to change TZ in more than one place (or at all, manually)... so want to be sure I'm understanding this correctly.

    Just to clarify:

In GoodLink you have the Time Zone setting to "Use Palm Timezone" and it isn't? I spoke with one of our engineers and he says "it should" which is always a scary thought .

Personally, I do have GL configured that way. So it seems that sanovak3681 also had theirs configured this way and the task date/time wasn't apparently behaving as it should. The apparent solution that you described was to adjust the GL TZ setting... which is what confused me and prompted me to want to clarify your explanation in that situation, as whenever I travel for business it generally takes me out of my usual timezone. I just haven't travelled since getting my T650, so want to understand if there's something extra I'm going to have to do to keep things synchronized before actually being in the situation.

That is what I am trying to verify since he didn't come right out and say he has GL TX set that way. If he does and it isn't working, then their might be an issue.
