We can complain in forums like this til carpal tunnel sets in, but PalmOne is not going to do anything until they hear directly from us. We still have time to act while PalmOne is delaying shipment of our unlocked 650s. I ordered mine in the early hours of Febuary 2nd when the price was still $599, but I am willing to call in and cancel my order in protest as a way to show Palmone that they can not play these pricing games with loyal customers. I know it is going to be hard, but WHO IS WITH ME! There is always the HP HW6500? With two (2) SD card slots(one miniSD), WIFI, basic layout similar to the Treo 650/600 but without the antenna. We have options, and PalmOne needs to know it!

do it in 2 weeks...they say 1 - 2 weeks...let it be 1 - 2 weeks...if after the 1 - 2 weeks nothing has been done, then you take whatever action you want...

remember when the ipod mini came out...the demand was so high that the delay was like 3 - 5 weeks...you couldnt find one...now its easy...but when they came out it was sick

WOW, there is no need for that type of language on these type of message boards. I hope you are not that disrespectful in person. The reason I need others to go in with me is to make a louder statement. Thanks for taking an interest in my post though.

Canceling your order is not a "protest". It's just spite.

Do you think they care of even 100 people cancel their orders? I just lessens their backorder burden.

If someoine is the type to whine and make idle threats about canceling their order, they're probably the same type to whine and cry about a third-party application rebooting their device. PalmOne is better off without a customer like that anyhow.

    Be content.

You don't think $60,000-$70,000 will not be missed by PalmOne? I don't need to whine and cry, because I already have my order in. I was just thinking about the rest of the would-be Treo users that Palmone may lose with their price increase. You can say what you want, but if Palm loses customers to the Microsoft line of phones, it will only hurt Palm's loyal followers.

Do we know much about the HP device? Is that the one that was posted here the other day? When will it hit the market?

I personally am getting more comfortable with PPC OS, but I'm returning my PPC6601, just like I retured the Treo 650; basically for poor integration of the phone applications, audio quality and volume.

The only PalmOne device I still love is the Tungsten C. It has the best thumb keyboard in the business, and built-in WiFi, along with a 400 mhz processor.

NOTE: Treo lovers, cool it. This is a duscussion forum. There's no need to get hostile and bent out of shape if someone says they don't like the Treo 650 and are returning it.

I think they'll feel it. Do I think that will make a difference? Not really. Their margins are measured in a tens of millions. I do beleive their direct-to-consumer market, at least on the phone-side of the equation, is a pittance compared to their Cellular Carrier market.

Only for those people who feel they have to have unlocked phones. For some it makes no difference.

And this very well may have been a mistake on Palm's part. Reports I have read stated unlocked phones cost more than the locked versions. If the locked version is $599 USD, then $699 USD is not unheard of for the unlocked version.

Did you know that in every Treo650 there is possibility of finding a GOLDEN WILLY WONKA coupon?

I bet you didn't. I'm buying another one. They say it's underneath the battery cover.

Why would the moderator of this forum edit my original title for this post? Did I post something wrong?

Clarity? The title you gave me makes no sense...why would I want to cancel someone's 650 order from P1?

people moan and carry on about p1 and this device and do nothing to combat it. a few brave folks have done what you propose to do and have indeed cancelled and either stuck with their 600 over protest of the memory debacle, or various other reasons. i haven't had any problems, so there's really no reason for me, and i suspect a few others, to join in. i have a sprint 650, i endured the wait from vienna channels because at $350 the phone was within my price point and i didn't mind the wait. at $600 i wouldn't have purchased it, unless i didn't have a pda. even if i didn't already own a tungsten/t, at $600 for the sprint model, i still wouldn't have bought it. it's just too much money for the simple tasks that i need it for, and the limited amount of time it would actually be put in use (can't bring it into work, so it sits in my car for 10 hours per day, 5 days per week).

at $700, i sure as hell wouldn't buy the unlocked model. what p1 did was wrong, but the problem is people here will still go out and buy it. you see, these are the treo faithful. p1 will do whatever it wants - for the most part - and folks here will continue to buy it, because it's the next step up and it must be had. no, where p1 will lose money is with people like me - the not so dedicated user (despite having owned palm devices since my first IIIe.) the general public will walk into that palm store and have 2 choices: yes for the uber cool, albeit pricey device, or no way in hell for the expensive phone. that's where p1 will feel a hit to their pockets. i rarely see crowds around the 600 or the 650 in the retail stores. the price just screams "stay away." in fact, i've only seen one treo actually in use on the streets of the dc metro area in the last few years, and that was at a chanticleer concert. outside of the dc roadshow, that's been the only time i've seen someone actually carrying and using a treo smartphone. $700 is ridiculous, and though your statement would be a bold one - you'll be out there on a limb if you're waiting for this crowd to follow you. keep your order, or go one better and switch service providers and get it at an even lower cost. palm is out of its frigging mind even thinking about charging $700 for this device.

IMO thxac3 has a point. Success of products are dictated by consumers, whether it is business or regular consumers. Protesting consumers most common option (and the least costly option) is usually not to patronize products specially if there are other available competing choices. On top of that, incorrect pricing strategy can also lead to lesser demand specially if the product does not satisfy target consumer requirements.
