This is a little out there but I just tried the NoviiRemote demo and I like it a lot... but the IR reception does suck (as stated many times on the boards).

Now you can get the IR-blaster, but let's face it, I'm not going to swap out my memory card everytime just to use my Treo as a remote.

What if we tried to replace the IR transmitter in our Treo with something a little more powerful? IR diodes are pretty simple and if there was a way we could get in there and solder a more powerful diode then might that work?

True, they are simple, but the underlying cicuitry is what really needs to be addressed. I doubt replacing just the IR LED will do any good.

I guess you will never know until you try.
