As a favor to yourselves and everyone else on the board - please search the threads for information you are seeking. I know if can be a pain, and it's easy to be lazy (I say that with respect) and just post a new thread asking for information. But with the onslaught of new owners thanks to the GSM version now released, many topics already discussed in depth have been covered with some wonderful insight by the knowledgable people here.

The more posts of threads of "old" topics will only bury the useful information further on the board.

    Thanks... and welcome again!

(no.. I'm not a moderator - not of this site anyway - but wanted to express an early frustration)

    I don't think it's Laziness. I think it's excitement.

We're all here to help each other. Searching does not always get you the information you're looking for.

JKoons. Please don't think I was *****ing or yelling at anyone - least of all in particular. Just a friendly reminder that there are already so many great posts to read and that although one is excited and wants a quick fix (hey.. I'm new to TREO as of 2 months ago) - actually exploring the board is a great way to learn more, comprehensively. "If all else fails, read the instructions" was never my forte - but reading this site is paramount.

I know, Sam, it's cool. There have been times that I had certian issues that had already been covered on the boards, but I couldn't find them. I love this forum! Without it I would have probably traded in my Treo for a 'normal' phone a long time ago. I had my Treo 600 for over a year and have recently upgraded to the 650. I pretty much rely on this forum for input, software and fixes.

    Perfectly true.

But let's remember back to high school. Did you go running for the anatomy book the first time you foudn yourself under the bleachers with a willing participant? Or did you just muddle your way through?

nor is there any shame in umm "helping yourself"

Well, I certainly didn't have an online forum to run to for answers! I was forced to figure it out for myself.

To some of you existing users of the board who act like you own the place, get a grip. If you cannot handle the influx of new owners which will be great for this place, go find another place to hang out and criticize the noobs. Your clogging up the board yourself with your demands to search before people post.

I don't think that's the case. Though the repeating of questions where threads asking the same question are on screen is a little annoying.

This happens in every enthusiat forum, though. Can't be avoided. *shrugs*

    Sam...

there are many threads and stickies explaining forum rules here. If you had searched first I'm sure you could've found one. ;-)

I don't feel it's a demand, but a common courtesy that anyone using an online forum should display.

There's a wealth of information here if you're willing to do just a little bit of leg work. Not to mention it reduces the clutter and confusion, which makes everyone's experience here that much better. If that's too much to ask, then so be it...

I think the whole forum should just be purged of all posts with less than two replies once this whole GSM fiasco is over with. That should take care of a bit of the clutter.

Let's lighten up, folks. New users need all the help they can get. We can at least point them to the correct thread link if we're too lazy to type a response.

I think I was a TreoLander in a previous life, cuz it's all coming back to me now

So, we need to search (most of the time) to find a link because we're too lazy to type a response to someone who was too lazy to search for themselves in the first place?

If you condone the behaviour, how does it ever change?

    Good point....

Now someone please provide me with the following answers:

What are your top 10 must have apps?
    Powerrun or Zlauncher?
What SD card should I buy?
    CDMA or GSM?

    You forgot:

Help! My versamail resets my treo!
This thing sucks, I'm returning it - who's with me?
    What? NO WIFI?
Memory - what happened to my memory

and Why won't my program from my Palm VII work on this thing. PalmOne has major issues!

In all seriousness, Mark, you hit the nail on the head. My intention for this post wasn't to boast any level of superiority over a new Treo owner. I'M A NEW Owner. It was just a friendly reminder that many questions have been answered and just a wee bit of searching will most likely find you amongst a plethora of responses and solutions.
