All of the keys on my treo 650 stopped working all of a sudden today for no reason. I tried doing a soft reset, hard reset and nothing worked. I was able to access the menu's because the touch screen still worked and my prefs for buttons being disabled wasn't applied. I have had the treo for 5 weeks. I called sprint and they were worthless. I went to the sprint store and after waiting for 45 minutes the woman says in 5 sec we will replace it. The gave me a new one with no questions asked.

Has anyone else had this problem.

Yes...I had the same exact problem! I too received a brand new unit on the spot (plus I got to keep the extra power chord!...all the accessories).

Never found out what caused the problem.

I'm on my third phone with a broken P key. Every phone in my Sprint store had the same problem. Great craftsmanship Palm...

I had the same problem. PalmOne replaced the phone. Then it happened again and it was a struggle to get a new phone. In the time it took Palm to send me a new phone (they sent a 600 by mistake), the 650 started working properly again. It was very strange--a hard reset didn't help but it eventually started working again by itself. I also had another 650 where the "P" stopped working. I've heard that's a common problem.

Probably not exactly the same problem, but I had similar issues, but only at certain times. I turns out TextPlus interfered with the keyboard somehow. The problem was gone after I removed it.

So what have other people found with their 'P' key. Mine is still working, but I have noticed that it is a little 'softer' than the other keys. The other keys still have a solid depress when you it them, where with the 'p" it feels like its starting to wear out. Does that mean it will stop working soon?

With mine, it got softer and softer until finally it didn't seem to move when pushed and I couldn't type a "P." The problem must have something to do with how the keyboard is manufacturered or mounted inside?

I really have to press my p key harder than the others to get it to work.

Yep, happened to me a couple of weeks ago. All of my buttons stopped working, and the only way to turn on my phone was popping my SD card in and out. After waiting in the Sprint store 45 minutes, and another 20 minutes, they had the odacity to say it was fixed, when all they did was a soft reset, and tried to dial using the touchscreen numeric pad....dumb A's....then I had to wait 5 days for a refurbished unit, which acts weird at times when the case is on, but it's been fine for a while now......

hmm -- well I guess its a good thing I paid for that Sprint insurance. I can't believe that PalmOne didn't do any sort of long-term testing on the keypad.

My G key has become really hard to get a response from its like hit or miss sometimes. Can this be fixed or is the usual solution a replacment. This is my third phone previous issues were voice related.

I have had the same problems. My first phone the key lock feature would not release. Had to remove-insert mem card. Found out my right shift key failed. Returned, to get new one, they gave me a new one with the P key way softer than the other keys, and with no 'click' . I still have the soft P phone, we'll se how it goes it is only annoying when I think about, not when I am actually typing.... Yikes! Glad I have protection plan

My "P" key has also started to become an issue - do you think I sould wait till a new batch comes through then change it or just trade it in now... I still have a 1 year manufactures warrenty...

I thought it was just me. Lately my power button needs to be pushed several times before it turns on. And on the 600 I could hit the phone button and it would power the phone on into the phone mode. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not.

Great, another problem to have to convince a Sprint tech that I have (since it does not happen all the time). Did I read right that the price of the 650 has went up $100 bucks. Incredible!

Many of these KEYGUARD and KEYBOARD problems are a result of some OTHER key being stuck. After my 3rd P key return I have now found a new problem- My 5 way nav is now stuck in the up position.

These problems are all common yet all the SAME. I'm wondering if a tiny piece of dirt/sand/lint, that gets into your keyboard renders it useless. This would explain the same thing happening to different keys and buttons. Definitely a DOWNGRADE from my 600 which never had this problem.

are these problems just with the sprint version or do gsm owners have these issues as well?
