    All,

ScheduleCare is now officially available! Phase I of development is complete and the ultimate profile application for the Treo 600/650 has been born and is taking shape. Phase II is in development but I wanted to get this product to market ASAP. Phase I has been in beta here at TreoCentral for 4 weeks now and I will be calling for more beta participants for phase II very soon.

Phone Tech is also another better app, plus MP3's ringtones, but it's fully function nag ware

these two app handle all the functionality of this App "except for Bluetooth".

And now the obvious question, have you tried these on a Treo 650? BrightCam was last updated 9/1/04 and Phone Tech 12/3/04.

Not doubting you, just checking....I love free.

Brightcam is a *fine* program! In fact Jean-Francois (developer of Brightcam) and I are good friends and I consulted with him on the creation of ScheduleCare. I am also in the process of helping him port BrightCam to the 650. The funcions you speak of in Brightcam are not free. To get this feature and some others you need to pay for them. Besides, I have added much much more functionality beyond the !BC! flags in BrightCam as I did *not* want to just repeat what was in an already great product.

    Jeff

EDIT: I am disturbed by your post and wanted to make sure everyone is clear that I am *not* trying to re-create the wheel here. I don't do that. I create applications that make people's Treo's easier and more fun to use. I do charge for my applications because that is my business and I will not appologize for that. But I do charge a *very* fair price. My record speaks for itself here. Here is the link that started the creation of this application:

Today's ScheduleCare is phase I of this request. Phase II is in developement and will be out very soon.

I was just letting people know there were other free options out there.
5 buck is no big deal, but free is always the best.

Free is not always the best - nor is it always the cheapest.

I'd much rather pay a nominal amount and get something specifically designed for my device than to get something free that is generic and where some functions may, or may not work on my device.

Is it better if it crashes my phone and causes me to spend hours recreating my work - much of the "free" software does that......
    Cheers

Personally, I'm looking for a profile manager which allows me to set various profiles quickly (I'd remap sied button for sure) depending on the situation I'm in. Ie: outdoor mode, meeting mode, sleeping (nightime) mode, etc...

Sounds like Phase 2 might do this, but the program "Profiles" seems like it would be perfect - just doesn't seem to work on a 650.

You are correct. Jeff is addressing this in phase II.

Yep that is exactly what phase II is all about. Would like to have you on the beta team if you want to participate. At the end of developement, this will be the most well rounded profile application available! I am building it from feedback from my user community. You can get an idea of the level of input by scanning my beta forum for Phase I.

Count me in! This is what I find most lacking at the moment for the T650...

If all goes as planned, I will be calling for beta testers in about 10 days to start testing for Phase II. I would encourage anyone who wants to influence the developement of this application to read the last page or 2 of my beta forum for Phase I. Much was discussed about the functionality and the GUI layout for Phase II. I will be using this as the starting point for the design of Phase II. I WELCOME all suggestions and feedback. It will be far easier to incorporate new ideas and designs now than it will after the program has been fully developed. This program is for all of you so I need your ideas and input!

    Jeff:

I did post in your beta forum, and will definitely be interested in testing phase II. I've downloaded the current version to try it out, but am definitely more interested in your pending functionality. Count me in for the beta.

DonationWare is like ShareWare, but it's up to you to choose the price, $1, $10, $25 if you want... more is also ok :-) I've promised a long long time ago that BrightCam would remain DonationWare, but be sure that nobody will get rich with a DonationWare... Anyway, almost all features in BrightCam are working without a registration key (and no nag) including !BCx! feature, with one limitation: !BCx! won't support repeating events if you don't have a registration key (continuous mode is restricted a little, and you won't have noise detection feature).

I think $5 is a good price: even a "hobby developper" lives in a non-free world. New devices are not free (simulators can help but won't replace a real device alas), some developpement tools are not free... If you like an application, you may consider that you will have another device later: your $5 will also let the developper update his devices to support yours later. My 2 cents...

By the way, Jeff is helping me testing BrightCam for Treo650 on his device (Treo650 is not available in europe for the moment) and I expect to release it pretty soon, but ScheduleCare won't compete with BrightCam: it will complete it instead.

    Cheers, Jean-Francois.
