Hi sj2004, Thanks for the info. It looks like you guys might be the first to get the unlocked GSM 650, although I couldn't find a link to buy on the p1 site (in fact, I couldn't find the on-line store at all). I did find this classic:

"The palmOne™ Treo™ 650 smartphone is designed to work with GSM/GPRS service providers worldwide and you could enhance the value of your Treo 650 smartphone by connecting with any of the following service providers:

    Coming Soon!"

Makes you wonder who they have writing this stuff.

Hong Kong and the Phillipines have the same info as New Zealand posted...but nothing for the US...I'm starting to feel like a third world country!

Hopefully they're toying with us. Hopefully they are just updating the foreign sites in anticipation for the release but just haven't updated the US site because the know we're all checking every 5 min and don't want us to start calling them. Hopefully when they do launch, the US site will be updated along with all of the others.
By the way I did call P1 sales line and it still has the same "It's only availble for CDMA and we have no information on any other carriers" recording. Not that I expeced anything different.

    Hopefully

My guess (and it is just a guess): the p1 sites in countries (regions?) that have a carrier that will be selling the 650 won't have details until after carrier release. Does this sound reasonable?

My guess...those countries don't have Sprint Cingular or ATT...so not a violation of whatever agreement P1 has with those carriers...but I also think it means we're getting close to an unlocked one for the US...imagine the ordering/shipping nightmare that's going to occur if they make them available elsewhere before they're available in the US!!!

Yes, it does. I attended the webinar last week and someone asked a question about when the unlocked GSM version would be available. PalmOne responded that it would not be available until after the carriers have their versions available.

If that were the case it'd be on the UK site... but it isn't

I heard (and apologize I don't remember who from Treocentral posted this,) that when the 600 came out you could buy the unlocked GSM from hong-kong before it was available in the US. The person who posted the info also said they had a problem and when they called P1 about it (broken screen) P1 said "that phone doesn't exist yet so you can't get fixed under warrenty" or some such nonsense. I wonder if a similiar situation will happen with the 650 where it's available in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong but not in US or Canada or Europe?
Oh, so they have internet on computers now!

My guess is that P1 wants a Feb 1 release date. It's Feb 1 over there and Jan 31 here.

    Tomorrow perhpas?!

    That's a lotta NZD's!

Yes, that was me. For the record it was a dim screen and they agreed to fix by sending a Cingular version (the Cingular 600 was unlocked unlike what I expect with the 650). They did that because the unlocked version "didn't exist" even though I was holding it in my hand. It came from a site (mobilefly.com) that is in Singapore.

Yes it is about US$920. Way expensive compared to US or Hong Kong.
