Nope, Stern isn't funny or relevant. He was defeated in Chicago years ago. He still has a few listeners left.

Capable of getting, maybe after enough alcohol, but then even the crudest fart jokes are then funny.
Stern with his hair extensions and teleprompter sun glasses can stay with people who like low brow humor, and circus freaks that surround him.

And by the way, I told Mancow it was time to retire and give someone new an opportunity, crank phones calls are funny maybe a few times a week at best.

When I saw the title of this thread, I KNEW it would turn into an instant debate about Stern. I think his show is funny. I used to get it in my area until the local station dropped it (I'm in the Bible Belt). Now I d/l the show from usenet, load it on my Treo and listen. It may be yesterdays show, but it's still funny as hell.

oh, imagine how vocal he will be when he discovers bt sucks, it resets constantly, terrible voice quality, etc. He will spend hours complaining on the air...maybe THAT is the reason P1 hasn't released it! :-)

Stern's show isn't as fresh as it once was but it's still pretty hilarious at times. I think I would like it better if not for the slutty-ness. But when it comes down to it, Stern is a lot more "real" and funny than most other broadcast talents out there.

Stern has become like Seinfeld...not himslef funny, but the supporting cast is.

Artie Lang has saved the show, IMHO.

Robin is a waste of time

I have found that most of the people who dislike Stern are the same people who don't listen to him regularly. They either caught a couple of minutes of a show or two here and there and were turned off or they have simply made up their minds just on his reputation. A couple of years ago I became so fed up with the same crap on music stations that I began looking to other avenues of radio entertainment. I have a long commute and wound up with Stern in the mornings, most of the time. I surprisingly found him to be more intellectual than I first gave him credit for. I think that if someone is open minded, doesn't take themselves to seriously, and understands that just because someone says something on the show it doesn’t mean that he agrees with them; they will find him not only entertaining but at times thought provoking. He is not afraid of unpopular speech and by giving unpopular speech a forum, you find that he is at times mocking its themes and at other times using it to point out societies hypocrisies.

As for the Treo connection; I first heard about the T600 on his show. I have not owned a cell for quite some time but the device that he raved about intrigued me. So I ended up here... waiting for the GSM 650.

I will follow Stern to satellite radio, hey anyone know if there is a Sirius satellite receiver for the Treo in the works? Maybe blue tooth?

    Just my 2 cents.

Well put Enzo.... It's like a 20 year old sitcom that's been running forever.. Cant just listen for 2 minutes and get into it. Gotta stick with it for a while then ya get hooked.

It's not all about naked chicks (that's what it looks like from watching the E! show -- they play those because they get the best ratings). I actually rarely watch it on TV, but catch the radio show daily.

I would say a $500,000,000/5 year contract w/Sirius speaks for itself.

I've never laughed harder than when listening to Stern. Bridezilla...high-pitch eric pretending to be Kelly Clarkson...shoo shoo retarded flu...you'd have to be in a coma not to laugh

As a former Stern fan, I've gotta say I got tired of him. Then along came "Bubba the Love Sponge"! Now that show was hilarious, until Redneck George and the FCC facists came along and ruined it. I pray everyday for him to appear on satellite. I'm a XM subscriber now, but the first company to deliver "Bubba" to me will get my business!
Go here if you're tired of being .
    It'll be fun.

I was in Tulsa a few weeks ago for the "Chili Bowl", an indoor midget race on a dirt track. Bubba was a teammate to Tony Stewart and I saw him flip his car all the way down the front straightaway. Thought he was gonna bust his a$$, but he came out OK and they had the car fixed the next day (amazingly) but he failed to qualify for the main event. I'll tell ya, he sure filled up that midget.

Howard Stern is such a has-been it's pathetic. The fact is...he used to be funny. Now he is just such a cliche of himself and the act gets so old. It's like when "Married With Children" came out and it was funny. By the 6th year, you wished all the cast would fall off the face of the earth. I'm glad he is getting banned...although that is not the American way.

I'm a big Stern fan. The E show is all of the worst parts of the show put together. It's unwatchable, to me at least.

When some porn star comes in I switch the iriver back to my music for 20 minutes or so, then check back. Howard's at his best when interviewing celebs, and at his worst when porn stars are there getting naked.

Artie is one of the funniest guys out there. That pig suit/coccaine story? Holy crap. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

Stern really shines when interviewing celebs. He askes questions that no other interviewer will ask....... thats when he is as his best.
