    I'm trying to get rid of some junky Freeware (Treo Alarms, actually) and am using FileZ. It deleted the program but cannot delete the datbase file. Says
    "Error:dmatabase Protected in Item::remove()d"

    ??

    Any advice would be great. Or, perhaps a recommendation for a good Freeware uninstaller.

    Why are you using filez to delete apps? Just goto menu > delete ans choose the app you want to delete.... that is the normal way to do things.

    Thanks Funkmagic, I wasn't aware that was possible and couldn't find any information about that in the Manual!

    Unfortunately even using built in Palm delete or an Unistall program you may still have some residual data or libraries leftover. In these cases if FileZ can't delete them unchecking copy protect is unlikely to allow them to be deleted.

    This is b/c often apps are not written properly or purposefully leave leftover files in order to track shareware usage etc. It's a real PITA imo. To circumvent this you have to use varisous 3rd party uninstall mangers like Northglide etc:

    You can read a review of these uninstall managers here:

    I use the Treo launcher/delete selection. Then I go filez to see if any files are remaining. If so, usually I can't delete them unless I do a soft reset-then filez allows me to delete.
