Dunno--probably should have posted this to utilities instead of general 650 though

I am still having the problem where the alarm will not work where a ringtone selected. Very frustrating.

why does my Alert LED seem to activate spontaneously? Then when I go into Butler to reset....it turns off as soon as I start the Butler app.

I have version 2.55 I just purchased two weeks ago. Is there any charge for the upgrade?

    Thanks,
    Roger

Yes. Send me $5. Then go to HobbyistSoftware and download the new version.

This response made me laugh even more when I imagined it was actually the monkey saying it

Butler has so many great features and a great developer... but, it always seems to have problems that make it high maintenance for me... hotsync resets, LED irregularities, alarm inconsistencies. It's great to have a utility that combines a lot of features. But, it seems to come at the cost of some stability... at least on my Treo 650. I'm interested in anyone's experience with v2.71, just released, particularly with respect to the hotsync problem.

I haven't had hotsync resets with any of the recent versions of Butler. 2.71 seems to have solved the KeyLaunch / Keycaps problem.

I think the real reason there have been so many problems with the 650 is that the developer is still waiting for a GSM 650. All the debugging he's done is dependent on 3rd pary help, which is tough. He could easily have waited until the GSM phone was out before making any fixes for the 650. I think we should be glad he didn't.

Butler on the 600 was very stable and reliable, and I think it will be on the 650 soon enough.

based on present use i wish this function was available:

i use Butler for the LED augmentation....and well its a great program

now here is the thing...say i get a SMS....the led turns to orange (which is what i told it to do)

now every 30mins, snappermail checks for mail for me...and if there is no new email...the solid orange led reverts back to default (flashing green)...

what i would love...if possible...is that the led stays augmented until all alerts are cleared...eg, SMS, VM, missed call....and when snappermail kicks in, and has no mail...the LED stay in the notification mode

    cheers

Still resets after backup with backupman for me. Haven't tried hotsync just yet.

    CV:

How is the "Incoming Call" alert supposed to work? Should this work on ANY incoming call, or just missed calls? And what form does the alert take?

I just received a call, and answered it. When the call was over, and I hung up (via the red phone button). Shortly after, I noticed the LED was rapidly flashing green. The blinking asterisk in the top left corner did not show up. I waited for more than 5 minutes, but the light didn't reset on its own. This doesn't seem like the desired behavor.

Oh, I'm using what I think is the newest release, 2.71.

    Thanks,
    Bob Meyer

Yeah, I have the same problem meyer. When I receive a call, my LED turns orange, and then after the call it stays orange until I enter Butler and manually reset my LED. I just went ahead and unchecked the "Incoming call" option. I still get notified for voicemails, just don't remember if I get notified of missed calls now.

I have had the same LED issue for quite sometime, with all versions of Butler. I got so ticked off I just uninstalled Butler. Problem solved!

Oh well I still love Butler, the single most useful app on my Treo. Whenever I get email or a voicemail or almost any alarm for that matter it takes me a second to glance at my orange LED. Otherwise I'd be pulling my phone out all the time to check it. So I don't mind the incoming call LED thing too much.
