I'm installing Shadowmite's Original Voice Quality Patched ROM. After I type in 'ace' (no quotes of course), I get the following error message:

ERROR: Ace image files corrupt or missing
    ERROR: Aborting update.
    Error (0x000B): Token space full

Can someone please shed some light on what I might be doing wrong?

    Thanks.

    Anyone? I'm clueless here.

I copied the PALM and ROM folders directly onto my SD card, I plugged the card into the phone, tapped ROMUpdater, typed "rev cvt2" (no quotes), hit return, typed "ace" (no quotes), then it gave me the above error message.

Well that's a start. My phone doesn't seem to be messed up from these errors, thankfully.

    I also get the error:

    ERROR LOADING DEVICE UPDATER LIBRARY.

This error occurs before I even type in 'rev cvt2.'

If you have not altered the ROM in any way, I suspect it is a problem with your SD card. I would try it with another card as my first troubleshooting step.

I've tried it using two different sd cards, and both times it errors out when it starts validating the rom/ace files.

That's really odd. Have you considered trying a different ROM? The "ROM Update with DUN" is the same ROM, but with the Bluetooth manager patched to enable DUN. Simply having the DUN patch in ROM is not a big deal, since it doesn't do anything unless you turn it on. Even if you never plan on using it, having it installed is not going to hurt anything.

Still no luck. I copied over the two folders for the update w/ dun and I still get the same error.

When it says to install the folders in the "root" directory of the card, is that different than just highlighting the two folders and moving them onto the blank card?

OK, so it isn't a problem with the ROMs, but rather with the cards, the card slot, or the Treo.

Next thing I would try is formatting the card in the Treo slot (insert it, select the Card Info app in the launcher, and select Format Card from the Card menu as shown in the attached screenshot).

After formatting the card, use your card reader to reload the ROM onto the card and try doing the ROM update again.

Already re-formatted both cards on the treo, and still no luck.

Thank you for your help. Please keep helping!

Not really helping much so far, am I?

Do the cards work otherwise? Can you take a photo with the phone and store it to the SD card without difficulty?
  13.    #13
Well, I just took a pic with the 650 and successfully stored it on the sd card, so it seems like the two can in fact play together....sigh.

You never mentioned renaming your Palm folder to "Bak" or something else of that nature on your SD Card. Have you done that?
  15.    #15
If there was no Palm folder prior to the rom update folders, there's no renaming necessary, right?

Your SD card should have had some kind of formatting that the palm does when you insert it. Som SD Cards have a little switch (so i'm told) so that files can't be erased/modified. I'd check that out as well.

How are you getting the files onto the card?

Also, you are just moving the ROM and PALM folders onto the card, right? You're not putting the main folder that they're packaged in onto the card, are you?
  18. #18
i'd investigate why your SD card doesn't have any of the folders that you would typically have if you formatted it. (I've never actually gone to format, the treo has formatted on its own).

I'm using a SD card reader/writer to put the files onto the card.

And yes, I am moving the two folders (rom and palm) onto the card, not the folder they come in.

I just added a jpg onto the card from my computer to see if the 650 would recognize it, and it did NOT. I had pic & videos open, the option to view the card's contents appeared, but when I clicked on the card icon, it didn't show any pictures were on it.

    hmmmm....

Disregard that. After I placed the pic in the folder entitled DCIM, it recognized it. What's DCIM?
