I just bought the Palm Treo 650 with Sprint PCS using their CDMA network and need an application to send Group SMS text messages. I like funSMS but it only seems to work with GSM....IS THERE A SINGLE APPLICATION out there that can my life easier?

I may be misunderstanding what "group SMS" means, but the built-in Nexter software on the Treo supports sending to multiple contacts. I don't think it'll group responses in a single thread, however.

Sorry but I do not understand what this Nexter is supose to do...
Yes, it is installed. Can I use it? Or it is working with Messaging v2.0 that I have installed in my Treo.
I can send SMS to multiples phone numbers. But what I would like is to create groups of phone numbers so I do not have to check every number when I want to send the same message to more than one person.
I did not find any app to do this with my CDMA Treo...

Nexter is the built-in app; I understand it appears under half a dozen names depending on how you access it. I launch it via an app called Button Launch and in there it shows up as "Nexter." I'm quite sure we're talking about the same app, however.

I'm pretty sure I've done what you're asking about, but unfortunately I'm literally just about to step out of the house. I'll do some experimenting while I'm out and get back to you when I get home.

Good news: I found a couple ways to do what you're looking for using funSMS 5. The first is to group your contacts with the built-in categorization feature. FunSMS has an "E" button that will copy every name in its list to the recipients list, so just select your category, hit that, and enter your message. Bam!

This might not work out if you already use the categories, and have recipients in your groups from multiple categories, ie Paul from Work and John from School. Fortunately, funSMS 5 has another feature that'll let you do it. I'll quote from the FAQ:

No. But you can easily create message templates with the members of a group. To do this, create a new template (text can be empty, too) and select the desired reciepients. You can enter the group's name in the text field to easily recognize the message template in the overview later on. If you create a new SMS message with such a template, all group members are already selected.
Here's a link to the funSMS page. There's a free 30 day demo and it costs 25 euros.

    Thank you.
I will check this. This app needs a desktop install (HotSync) that I cannot do it now (not at home). I will install it tomorrow.

Don't thank me yet. I just set it all up and then told you about it; once I went out to get reception for a real test, it complained that I don't have a GSM radio and sent nothing. Seems to me that since Palm has internal messaging ability, it ought to be able to use that, but it doesn't. I sent them an e-mail about it, because since you got me looking at this stuff, I'd really like to be able to run funSMS ...

I tried GroupTextMessenger, though, on my Sprint 650, CDMA, and received that one fine. You might have tried an older version or maybe something else went wrong, so give it another go.

    What is your version number?

    1.0.040930.01

The center key on the 5-way doesn't work; it says on first-run that it only works on the 600. Otherwise it's a pretty sweet app.

I just set up one of my speed dial buttons for "message" I entered all the phone numbers I needed, separated by a comma and that's it. I gave it a useful title and I press it all the numbers show up all I have to do is enter my message and hit send.
