I use Mundu IM.. Simple, not fancy, and it works.

I will go for VeriChat. Outstanding UI, stable, file transfer and a long list of features, way more than other IMs. Now VeriChat has great bots. Teasers is interesting. The Bots list includes:
    Area & Zip Code Information
    Flight Status
    Language Converter
    Currency Converter
    Dictionary & Thesaurus
    World Time
    Stock Information
    Teasers
    Movie Information
    Sports Information
    Yellow Pages
    Your Local Weather Information...

VeriChat is available for Blackberry and Sony Erricson phones, which is also a plus point. Now no confusion if I change my phone.

any screeen shots of this app?

so what would be best AIM app for me? I just need AOL instant messenger and it has to be able to run in the background, does verichat and causerie dot that (sorry i'm a newb )

I tried the AOL clients on both my Treo 300 and 600s and the app essentially killed both machines. I used Verichat for a long time after that and loved it, until I stumbled upon the all in one "Chatter". It's, in my opinion, the best communication app out there. It's a shame that Marc can't come up with a manageable solution to allow for new IM customers.

    Palm III > HS Visor > Treo 600 > Treo 650 > Treo 750 > Treo Pro > PrePlus GSM

Are there any free IM products for the TREO 650? I only use AIM. I downloaded Causerie 2.4, but it's only a 15-day trial.

I am in a similar situation, where all I need is AIM. I stumbled across this the other day, and it works wonderfully. And, it is FREE.
