I just got a used treo 300. For a long time I was using a Kyocera 6035, and then it broke, so I switched to a crappy Samsung regular cell phone. Now that I have the Treo, I want to import all of my old contacts. The problem is, these don't show up in the address book listing, even when I click on my older desktop software for the Kyocera...I guess settings have been changed to automatically look for the newer address book, which is virtually empty.

So how can I import these addresses? I know where they exist...they are in a .dat file (along with a .bak file) in an older folder. What file format is a .dat file, and how can I get access to it?

The Palm Desktop is capable of importing several types of address files. You may be able to take care of it there.
